Brake light won't go off

Like the title says, My brake light is on, and won't go off. I can pull the E-Brake, and set it back down, and it still stays on. It came on the other day while I was driving and hasn't went off since.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing it?

Maybe the brake master cylinder is low on fluid. There is a float in there that turns on the light as well.

Yep, check the master cylinder. If it's low, check for leaks. If you find no leaks, check your brake pads/shoes.

Also, the sensor for the e-brake could be stuck, but not likely.

Okay, I will check that tommorow. Now that I think about it, I noticed a lot of road-grime on the right-rear wheel, I just finished replacing the axle bearing on that side, so I had the brake caliper off. So it may be leaking from there.

But I also never hooked my e-brake back up when I put it all back together, it was being a pain so I just bailed on it. Could this have something to do with it?

Okay, just went out and went ahead and checked the level. It was low, about 1/4" above the "MIN" line, I put some fluid and filled it up all the way.

I had another question, but I forgot what it was.

yup yup i had the same problem and i seriously thought that it was my e-brake. i kept releasing it and pulling it back up so many times but nothing changed. while i was replacing my cmc i saw that the brake fluid in my bmc was low so i toped it off and the brake warning light went away. how stupid was i to not think of low brake fluid level? well now ive learned my lesson so in the future if my brake warning light is on and wont turn off i know where to look for first.

I will have to wait until tommorow before I know for sure, it's a tad late around here, and i'm sure my parents/people across the street wouldn't appreciate me making a lot of noise with my exhuast on a sunday night, especially the 'rents.

If this doesn't fix it, it will give me an excuse to buy parts, My bank account isn't struggling anymore, so I like excuses.
