Smile Box under Seat?

Hey guys,

I notice there is an electronic box under the drivers seat. And was just curious
to see if you guys know what it is? Is it stock or not?

Here is a pic of it.

Either its power seats, or an amp

I am going to go with this amp theory. I might even go so far as to say Clarion. Word has it these little amp things travel in pairs.

It's not an amp those are mounted on the inside of the storage bins.

my guess is something to do with the power windows

Now that you mentioned it, I do recall the amps being in the storage bins, or at least on the 84 ad 85's they are. However, I am totally lost on the power window theory.

It's an amp...for the front speakers...the second amp is bolted to the bulkhead "wall" found when you remove the driver side bin...that's for the rear speakers...

My '83 GS had one amp under the seat and one on the bulkhead wall under the driver's side storage bin...I'm about to update the "Furious" thread on the stereo work detailing specifics...

In my '82 GSL, that's the amp for the rear speakers. Take the fuse out of the fuseholder and see which speakers are still working. On mine, the front speakers continue to work with this box completely disconnected.
