Boosted 1st gens... questions!

What am I looking at replacing NOW, before the motor goes in...

Ideally, it'll be a stockport 13B-RE/REW, with a 60-1 turbo, and supporting goodies.

However, with these supporting goodies comes a couple questions...

What will the stock GSL rearend/axles hold before they're toast, and I'm stuck on the track? Yes, I'll be running slicks at the strip, if that matters.

What will a stock TII tranny hold?

And a Racing Beat 4puck sprung clutch/race pressure plate?

I've already done all the suspension and brakes, and safety stuff so far... but now it's time to give it a heart... and what a heart it will be! I'm going for a reliable 425 at the wheels.

The tranny will be fine. People are having success over 500 HP with the stock TII tranny.

The rear end will most likely be the weak link, I am not sure on the exact power handling capabilities. Time for a Ford 8.8"

all depends on your driving style. if you launch like a bastard and have good sticky tires, say good bye to the rear end. if you usually launch from a roll (i.e. highway runs) then you'll be ok for a while.

Axles cut and resplined, narrowed rear, shock and spring mounts welded on (might wanna go to some coil overs for ease) and a custom driveshaft.

Most likely different wheels and brake lines too boot, since it has a different bolt pattern.

Stock rear end will be good for a long time.. a GSL-SE rear will be even better.. I beleive it is a 7" rear end. (If memory serves)

Unless you have the rubber to put down the power, the rear end isnt the weak point.. traction is.
