Bogs at 2500 RPM

Recently bought a 1983 Gsl from my girlfriends dad. There was a noticable studder at constant speed. He said he thought it could be the shutter valve so he took the carb off to look at it. Didn't see anything wrong with it so we reinstalled the carb and all the vacuum lines. He checked the valve by putting pressure on it with his mouth and it worked fine. He ended up just putting some gasket sealer on the shutter valve gasket and the carb spacer. This seemed to solve the problem. Today, I took the car out for a drive and noticed that is was kind of rough again. In addition, if I didn't accelerate above 2500 rpm fairly quickly the engine would bog and I would have to let off the gas completely to keep the car from dying. The same thing happens when not in gear. I very slowly revved the engine and it would bog and almost stall when I hit around 2000 rpm. What i'm wondering is, if I were to go ahead and remove the rats nest and block all the openings and such in the process, shouldn't that take care of any vacuum leak I may have?

On second thought sorry for being an idiot there. It could be a big vacuum leak or a clogged carb or cat but whatever it is im sure its been covered here before.

Good luck with your RX-7 experience.
