Angry Bog Down

I have an 85 GS auto with 77K. I have had the shutter blocked off. Now what happens is after it warms up and chokes down, I go to take off and all is good until about 40MPH. The car starts basically sputtering and losing all power. I have new wires, denso plugs and the ignitors were replaced. After about 10 min or so of driving the problem will smooth out. Also when it starts to miss, I put it in "N" and rev it up. It sputters during this. Today I was going to pull the rats nest and then go from there. HELP ME!!!!!!

Have you checked your cap and rotor? I'll think on this some more....

RX-4X4 might be right, but it seems wierd that it would go away after about ten minutes of driving......

Hmm, maybe the carb is getting clogged with some sediment.

When it is doing it, take a look down into the carb while someone works the gas pedal. Look at the fuel flow and see if you can spot any issues. When they first push on the pedal, there should be a healthy squirt of fuel from the accelerator pump (two little nozzles in the center aimed down into the throat of the carb). Then you should see the fuel going in from the primaries.

I had a similar problem last week, and when I did this I found that the accelerator pump was not squirting, and only one of my primaries was flowing. After tearing it down and cleaning it out it was better. Good luck...
