Body Mods
I went to install the bumper that came with my car yesterday (car was hit in front) and found out that it's off of a Mercury Tracer (who knew that Ford and Mazda have the same brown).
now that I know that there isn't a bumper for this car, I want to know of companies that produce bumpers for my car (85' GSL).
I know of Mariah but want to know if there are other, less expensive companies.
ALSO, what would be a nice color I'm not much for brown and I have a friend with connections for House of Kolor paints. Seriously, just throw out some colors, even color combos. Just want a little help because I can't picture any other color besides bright yellow, red, or black. I want different yet stylish.
Thanks,
Eric

first thing is that to change the color of the car will not be easy... to do a good job that is... It requires lifting the engine and taking out most of the wiring etc to paint, alot of prep work is needed... the doors also need to be removed the jams painted...
i have a question that is related to this as well so i'll sneak it in. I'm looking for replacement bumpers without the black "moulding" as i plan on removing my side moulding when i get the 7 painted.. anyone seen some around/know where i can find em?

....i personally like the sunset orange that came on the last model ss camaro's (is that spelled right? idk) i also like the dark red that's on the rx8's and the gunmetal color
mazdatrix pacific IMSA front bumper looks nice. not to aggressive.

but stock look FB's are very nice too if they're dropped! as well as the xenon front bumper, which leans toward more old school flava.

I thought mazdatrix was expencive to buy from?? anymore bumper companies???
Sunset Orange.....now that's a color, what about a contrasting color i.e shampain<s.p or bronze. even add a bigger metal flake (not goldflake that looks ugly)
Green of any sort, except for Brittish Racing Green, haven't ever appealed to me.
I've got too many blue vehicles and it's ordinary for me, everybody that knows me knows that I like blue.

Looks good..
In a related note: whats a good solvent to loosen up the adhesive for the moulding on the sides? Mine came off and left black rubbery adhesive that is a bitch to get off with a plastic putty knife.
Oily Fingernail Polish Remover ( Oily Acetone ) And A Terry Cloth.
Need it quicker ? Use Methyl Ethyl Ketone. ( MEK )
Want the world record ? Use Methyl Isobutyl Ketone ( MIBK )
Don't smoke !

I'm going to tell you all the easiest way to remove the adhesive left from the side mouldings. Once you have the mouldings taken off by heating them up from behind with a heat gun. Take your angle grinder and put a metal grinding disc on it one of the thin sand paper looking ones not the thick carbid disc and just grind away you can get off in a matter of secondss and it doesn't gouge the metal at all and leaves it near perfect for primer. I did both front fenders in 2 minutes flat...no joke!!
I believe that 3M actually makes a disc specifically for removing stripes and adhesive. Check with your local auto paint supply. I know that they have a sticky residue remover solution.

Just realized a TinyURL isn't the best for archival purposes, since they expire, so here's a better link:
