Body Kit Concept

Okay, this is a bit crude but just meant to convey the idea. When I had Pamela my low profile tires were just a bit too square of shoulder for the wheel arches, and the front lips had to be rolled subtly. I thought a more modern 'flared' lip would be apropose.

In addition, I prefer modern integrated bumpers to the separate bumperskins-over-hydraulics of the 80's. The latter is heavy and a bit ugly, IMHO.

So I'm playing with the lines of the car subtly - something that'll clean up these niggling details while preserving the overall look of the gourgeous wedge-comin-atcha look of the FB. It's crude, but again just meant to convey the idea, not be a photorealistic mockup.

BTW the lower facia would of course have integrated ducting to prevent front-end lift. The RX-8 inspired ducts are on there for fun and controversy

Constructive feedback and just plain worship are welcome.

Air duct is a good idea, the car looks good but it's not my style. But I'm sure many people will like your design. The front looks shortened without the bumper.

anyhow good luck, reguardless it looks fine to me

I like the rear and the mini flares but I think the front needs an airdam or something.

what about trying to move the back end...i think they call it a defuser today...down 3 or 4 inches so our exaust systems would be hidden by it...and would poke out an arch cut out of the back...Mazda 6/ audi A4 style...??

I doubt a lot of people will be willing to pay money for that little of a change. Who knows though...

It needs something in the front, a lip or something. Do you remember the drawing I gave you a while ago Manntis? Something like that. I love the shape of the integrated nose, but I think a lip would totally make the design.

When I get home, I'll see what I can whip up...

You mean the white 1st gen? That's my old car. They're 15" Simmons V4's.

Manntis, would the front bumper replace the front valance as well?

I am liking that hood on the yellow GSL. Those air vents would look really nice - anyone know any more about that car?

Yes - you'll notice the cut on the fender goes up, not just straight forward... the idea is that the front facia would replace the header panel, bumper skin, and hydraulic bumper shocks... the stock bumper innards would be remounted on shorter metal tubes keeping high-speed collission safety.

I personally don't think the flares...as you've got them (it's hard to envision them from the front or at anothr angle)...suit the car reall well. The whole think from the view point you've given us looks like a ballistic slug.

I personally think flares should always be avoided. They make sense on race cars because race cars aren't meant to look good...function over form. If flares must be used they must flow with the body well...be built into the body if possible. I think that if any effort is going to be put into widening the stance it should be done via a "real" wide body kit. Nothing as aggressive as whats available today. I'll draw something up and show you what I mean.

Also, from the looks of it the front air dam isn't changed dramatically over stock. Not many people are going to be very interested in such a subtle change for significant money...as has been stated. Nothing resembling modern should be used...or nothing any mroe modern looking than the IMSA dam...but I think deviating from the bullet look might be worth it.

I think it's an "S" or "GS" but I agree, the whole package looks damn near perfect, - next best thing to a widebody kit.

Any more info on it?

And what Steering wheel is that?
