Blown Engine

Does anyone know if it is possible to use an oil cooler from a blown engine without damaging your own engine? I have heard that the oil cooler should not be used again cuz theres all the ruined seals and crap built up inside it.

If so, then is there a way to succesfully flush it.

I fell victim to the hairline fracture in the oil cooler and need a cheap new one.

No problems with using an oil cooler from a toasted engine.... there shouldn't be anything in the oil from a blown engine, that's what the oil filter is for I would say you should probably just put it on and then change your oil and filter right away after a few minutes of running, just like you would with any other used oil device (oil pan, omp, etc).

yea changing the oil after the first few minutes it good. Before that though get some auto trans cooler flush and blast it through the cooler. A parts cleaning fluid (preferably one that leaves little or no residue) works good too.
