Blow Through Turbo Or Haltech?
Back to the original question.
I gotta say that EFI can be done on a budget. I've done my for FREE but alot of work. I bought a blown 88 T2 for $400, stripped the wiring, ECU, control boxes, sensors, engine and tranny out. Parted most of the car out, sold the shell for $150 and have recovered my $400. From your post it sounds like you're doing a T2 swap so this is a valid option. Back to the work issue--I've done almost all the hard work for you, I've posted the electrical schematics and pin outs so with a minimal electrical background, you could follow my schematics and do the install with no problem. If you're scared of wiring--don't need to read any further.
As you know the engine was rebuilt and all of it is in my 85 SE running pretty damn good. I was amazed the crappy looking knock sensor actually works and retards the timing correctly.
For this option, it all depends on how much HP you are wanting to make. I would think you could safely go up to about 230-250 HP on the stock T2 EFI setup. Oh and no tuning required--although once I get everything finished I do want to get the car dyno'd and checked out with a wideband. Much more than 250 and yea an expensive standalone or carb would do you fine--but go drive an FB with 250 hp and IMHO that's plenty for a fun street car.
Sooo, EFI can be done on a budget and will put you in a nice HP range for an FB.
Good luck
Scott
p.s. So how are you tuning these carbs under boost--seat of the pants--by sound and feel--or running on a dyno with a wideband? Just curious.

Clearly Paulo you do not know anything about me. I do not have some "little forum ****** following" here. I am known for my help in carburetion...HELPING the person who needs it.
My problem with you is not at all that you like EFI. EFI is great. If it wasn't great, it wouldn't have replaced carburetors as OEM induction, now would it?
My problem with you began here:
...the highlighted section being simple misinformation due to ignorance. So you seem to be pushing EFI by making statements about carburetors that only one who can not tune a carburetor, or carb-match his system, would be making.
That's fine in and of itself.
All is still well & good after you offer to spill info to substantiate your claims regarding the SE being used...
...and they bite by asking some questions. But instead of answering them, you invite them to talk privately with you if they want the real deal. (...apparently you have really great secrets!
)
-They ask you to spill, but you're then noticeably absent for 22 hours from a conversation that you would only participate in to steer people a very specific direction. (Gee. Are you fishing for business?)
You only pop your head up like a gopher in the carnival favorite "Whack-a-Mole" game just once to make another "pro EFI" statement (again by bashing carbs
) with this:
Again, you are noticeably absent from the discussion after this "hit and run" plug for your Haltech...of course only by bashing carburetors again -Carburetors are obviously something you've only read about.
By now I've basically pegged you as an yet another Honda-Tuner with his head really far up his own *******, and all too inflated to remove it.
My problem with you is not that you like fulies, and enjoy the technology that we are so blessed with today that can actually meter out the appropriate fuel for ANY and EVERY environmental and load variable, changing it's parameters at the speed of an Eccentric shaft.
My problem is not that you seem to detest carburetors; The archaic, old-school, clunky sewing-machine technology that has linkage reminiscent of an old Griffin motorbike...most of which have venturi design so poorly manufactured that fuel atomization is at 85-90 percent at it's most perfect parameters.
I understand these things, Paulo.
My problem with you is that you are clearly baiting people to privately discuss this stuff, instead of sharing your apparently vast wisdom on the subject of Haltech SEs with people in need of this info.
YOU, are working AGAINST all of US, Paulo.
Now tell us, Paulo; Just why is it you don't wish to publicly share the vast wisdom and experience that you have collected regarding turbo SEs with all of those here who need the information?
Why do you tease us so, first by telling us that all we think we know is false, and that you are the light...the one...the only?
Are you Christ returned, and this time Christ is a Tuner?
Tell us, Paulo. Afterall, you have built two whole motors, right?
Here on this forum, you either help out, or shut the **** up. Only ******** trying to sell something act like you are.
I modify and sell carburetors, but I never hold back info. Just how is that, Paulo, that I wouldn't tell people who ask that they should "PM me if you want some real info"?
Judging by the number of posts you have, I have to say that you might be either the reincarnation of some loser once banned, or a newbe here fishing for business.
-If it's business you want, I can help you. Yes. That's right. Me.
-Ah but alas, my dear friend Paulo, you will have to PM me for this great secret.
We're about sharing here. If you're selling something, say so.
Otherwise try being ******* helpful.

high com. turbo setups is the most wonderful thing in the world, 6port se engine runs great with a turbo, as far as the intake goes just do some custom port matching. Why would a want a turbo carb setup, its not the 80's anymore. why would you want to tune you your car daily, and still not have the drivablity, and if you do have drivablity then you are not tuned for a wide open. fuel inj. turbo is the ONLY way to go for daily driven reliabilty.
That's fine in and of itself.

What would you like to know i have built 2 se turbo motors i the last year.

why do you have to spend 1k on fuel injection? And you are trying to tell me that you can same drivabilty and performance from a turbo carb setup. ok... you can get close but what happens when the weather changes are you going to have to re jet you carb, i wont its programmed into my computer, you chose... lets be for real its 2004
