So on my 85 fb, when i put the right turn signal on its fine and blinks at a normal rate. When i put my left one on, it makes the click noise very rapidly and the back left signal blinks fast just like the ticking but the front left does nothing. Sorry if this is a dumb question but im not sure if it is a wiring issue or something along the lines of that.

Do you have any bad bulbs?

 

Front left bulb is bad / missing / faulty wiring.

 

Change the Front left bulb and you're good to go.

 

When the car is driving the blinker works and ticks at a normal speed but when at a stop it ticks fast and only rear blinker works. any ideas?

 

THE FRONT LEFT TURN SIGNAL BULB IS BURNED OUT.

Here's the explanation; the 'blinker' (which is actually a relay using an electromagnet and several switches) relies on the current draw through both front and rear turn signal bulbs in order to set the oscillation speed (i.e., the timing for how fast the blinker 'blinks'). When a bulb is burned out, the current draw is less which results in the blinker relay blinking faster.

Replace that front bulb which isn't blinking, and you'll restore the current draw to spec and it will blink at the correct rate. Simple fix with a Phillips head screwdriver, the replacement bulb, and 5 minutes or less.

As an aside, the running lights on that bulb may be working just fine and the blinker would not work - there are 2 filaments on a blinking bulb; one for running lights, and another for blinkers - just like your brake lights (running lights and brake lights). Good luck,
