Black positive battery terminal???

Hi everyone, this is really pissing me off, my postive battery terminal keeps going black for somereason(grey originally), ive cleaned most of my grounds, i have an electric fan with a fusible link in place, and a cd player with a fusible link too. so wat would cause the battery cable to keep goin black , my fan connections, and radio connections are ok, if it helps i just replaced my trailing igniter, and my washer pump used to cause a hort and i replaced it for a new one and is ok. this is making me mad because ive gone through three terminals and always have to keep a spare in case . thanks in advance everyone.

Either that grey is just a topacle coat or their is corrosion in the strands of the cable.
Recommend to ditch that cable and buy a new one.

Putting those $1.00 "No corrode" felt washers on the battery posts usually stops this from happening.........

it seems like its coming from the battery cuz the way it sarts turning black is from the inside out, it gets so black to the point that it doesnt get enough power through the terminal to start the car,wat cable do u speak of rx7 doctor???

Replace the whole positive battery cable. Those cable ends are junk and are only meant as a temporary repair. Then put the $1.00 corrosion washers on there or some vaseline or protective spray.

You don't have any marks on the underside of your hood which would correspond with the location of the battery terminal do you? If it was touching the hood once in a while it could be causing all kinds of issues for you. Just a thought.

Yeah, contact with the hood arcing and shorting. Bad ground contacts will also cause all kinds of issues. Time to start cleaning?
