big power loss??????

I have an 85 rx7 GS. Just recently ive noticed a huge power loss at higher RPM's. at about 5k the tach just stops. the engine just stays there, and stops accelerating. I replaced the fuel filter, and just recently put in new spark plugs,, wires, and cap and rotor. I was wondering if anyone knows what is going on.

I'm pretty sure that my secondaries don't open, and I can coax a little more than 5K RPM out of it. In 4th it'll rev right out at about 150 kph, and in 5th it'll max at 135 kph or so. So I'd bet against the secondaries. I agree with the Kat... Still have it in there?

ya, the old cat is still in there. One of my friends was telling me to look at the exhaust, and see if it was red hot after a drive. I did, and it was red hot in front of the cat. He was thinking it was probably plugged up. should i put a stock one back on, or get a high flow aftermarket brand?
