Big brake kit fitment question

I'm going to buy the Respeed big brake kit but need to know if the TII claipers will fit inside my 15" SSR wheels. I only know people running 17" wheels with the TII calipers. I will be using the FC 4 lug rotors and the TII calipers. I need to keep my 4X114.3 bolt pattern.. Thanks.

you cant run the FC 4 lug rotors, if im not mistaken. you have to take the 5 lug rotor and redrill it. a forum member has done so and hasnt had any problems with it. im currently running 16x7ith this kit. the car hasnt been driven for more than a 1/4 miles test run, but i didnt have any issues. i was initially going to be running some 15" work ewings, but i had to regretibly sale those and go with my current work equips. i tested the ewings and it fit, but tight. ive heard some 15's will fit and others wont. i cant give you some measurements if thatll help. let me know.

My current 12" Selectmaz rotors and TII calipers fit under my Centerline 15X7 wheels with about 3/16" to spare.Ran them for a couple years before going widebody and getting the 17's.
With things that close,I bet a lot will depend in the wheels and where/how the center disc is attached to the hoop.Curved spokes,a thick union flange or welds might interfere with the calipers extremities.

One of these days I am going to do a drawing of the setup with dimensions like this on it. Maybe this weekend I can do it.

You can run the 4 lug rotor, you will loose approx 1/2" of pad surface. I do not recommend it. I will have a solution for the 4 lug guys at some point, i just do not know when.

As said, you can re-drill the rotors to the 4 lug pattern. You can use adapters to change to the 4 lug from the five lug as well.

Are you trying to use 15" stock second gen wheels? If so, you will need spacers in front anyways.

I have a set of SSR 15X6.5" in front. Will get the offset to make sure.. You are running 4 lug 4X114.3 right? Using spacers?

Long story......

My previous wheels were custom drilled 15X6 Boyds that I bought in 93' for the GLC and carried over to the RX, when it was new to me......

My Centerlines came from the factory with dual lugs in 110MM and 114.3MM lug patterns!!......not special ordered or anything. I have no idea when/why Centerline started making wheels with the quirky 110MM pattern, but when I went into the brandnew(at the time) Les Scwab's,they guy at the counter said there were 2 styles of Centerline that would fit my car.
I bought them and ran them a few years with GS discs. Then in 01' I upgraded to the SE brakes when I went TII.Shortly after that,I aqquired the 12" Selectmaz kit.The Centerlines bolted directly to the big brakes,no spacers or adaptors.

Back in 01'-02', Selectmaz had not even sold one of their kits in the US,thus all their stuff was 110MM since the Aussies never got the GSL-SE. No one else I was aware of,even offered a big brake kit for the 1st gen,so I was stoked to find out about Selectmaz.

When the widebody was done,I ran the same setup for a while, but it looked dumb since the Centerlines were not wide enough to fill the fenders.I knew I wanted wide 17" wheels, but I also knew there was little chance of getting contemporary wheels to fit the 110MM Selectmaz fronts. And I didnt want to have two different patterns front/rear.So I ordered the Advans in 114.3MM 4 lug pattern with the intention of bolting them directly to the SE rear axle, and using short adaptors in the front to switch the 110MM to 114.3MM.But the Advans were very deep on the inside,so I had to push them out a lot to get the look. The spacers I used are pretty thick, but very high quality and I used grade 8 studs. No problems with them in the last 3-4 years.....

15" wheels will fit on the T2 brakes just fine. My '86 GXL has the 4 piston calipers/5 lug hubs (same as a T2), and it came stock with 15" wheels. A couple weeks ago, a buddy put 15" wheels on his '87 T2 for an auto-x.
This is not to say that all aftermarket 15's will clear the calipers, as that depends on the wheel design.
I think the FC 4 lug rotors have a different offset and diameter from the 5 lug rotors. I know the CP brake kit had different mounting instructions for 4 lug and 5 lug setups.
This would likely indicate the need to have either a complete 4 lug setup, or redrill the hubs/rotors from the 5 lug.

The 4 lug calipers are small enough to fit in a rear facing setup without hitting the steering arm. The 4 piston caliper will not, hence the different mounting.

It can be done, your local machine shop can re drilled the TT2 brake rotors to 4x114, also the 4 lug 2nd gen hubs work with the Respeed big brake kit. you also need longer wheel studs. then it make sence to get braided brake hoses.
PERFECT on 18" wheels
THANKS BWAITS! GREAT PRODUCT.

any word on the rear kits?

That is close as well. My first avenue was to find a casting supplier for the blanks and have them manufactured to our specs. Come to find out there are only a handful that supply the rotors to most retail suppliers. They all enter this country with the lug pattern already in it. The casting firms were not interested, so.....I worked on my on solution. Info shortly.
