Between steps 9 and 10 on water o-ring fix...

...on the budget 82 GS I picked up, the one I've been working on smog (thanks for all the help!).

The water leak went from about a pint a week to emptying the radiator quite quickly. As the car was inexpensive and is bound to be our 2nd race chassis, I'm not disheartened, but it would be inconvenient to not have it properly registered and driveable, at least till we're ready to build it.

Anyway, decided, what the heck, I'd try the 0-ring fix posted by Tom Jelly.

Worse case, it gets stored, just like it would if it doesn't work.

Thought I'd mention that these instructions are well written and easy enough to follow. The hardest part is getting the system to flush clean after putting the degreaser in. Having a hose and ready supply of water is really quite important.

I'll post a follow up and let you know in a day or two if it worked.

Ah, good to hear that it worked, Brian. I forgot to mention that I took me about 2 and a half hours to get this far. Hopefully not much longer tomorrow.

Yep, I have one of those, it was great for venting the system and flushing out the radiator/heater core.

I don't have a hose though, so not as convenient as it would have been were I to have been able to follow that part of the directions. Many water bottles filled repeatedly will get the job done, though....
