Best source for 1st Gen OEM parts...

I know OEM parts might be few and limited on availability, but I'd still like to use them whenever possible. What is the best source for OEM parts?

I like salvage yards. Just takes a bit of yellow page work to call and ask if they have any 1st gen parts and or shells to pull from.

I have gotten 3 starters that way

+1 on Mazda.
Then an auto graveyard.
Then the For Sale Section on the Forum.
Then Black Dragon Auto.

never tried them but looks to be currently updated.

also ebay has some oem parts like apex auto. or sellers have new rare parts. these oem parts just come once in a while on ebay though.

The Black Dragon and Ebay parts are not OEM. Theyare just replacements for OEM made by a 3rd party. Good luck finding OEM othen than a few items from Mazdatrix or still available from your local dealer.

Ive ordered some parts from Black Dragon and they were in a little clear bag that said 'MAZDA' on it. I think that means OEM, but dont quote me on that...

the only BD OEM part I know of so far is the air pump fan belt that had a blue mazda sticker on it. also private sellers on ebay sell oem parts which you can see the blue mazda part sticker such as door pull cups

The Dude from Washington is correct. I've received a few things from BlackDragon that were OEM. I don't remember for sure, but I think the pedal pads I got were OEM. There have been a few other things as well.

Do dealerships still offer up wear items? Like OEM cap/rotor and brake parts for these cars?

I guess I was wrong, I've never gotten anything from them that was labled as a Mazda part. You learn something everyday.

I have. They don't stock anything for our cars. They have to order, but it is usally quite fast. Many times the prices are about the same as Mazdatrix, sometimes a bit less. Your best bet is to first look up the part number from the parts fiche (available here: http://foxed.ca/foxed/index.php?page=rx7manual). Then just call or go in and give them the part numbers. Some things are actaully pretty reasonable (door pull cups, dome light lens, and some other stuff). Some of these are in bad shape used, so best to get new. Other things, the price will scare you off. Some things, you'll be like 'WTF? How can they possibly charge so much for this little piece of plastic?'.You just have to check and see. Only way to know for sure.

At the dealer that I went to, I could order parts on Monday and they would be in that Wednesday (if they were in the closest warehouse). If they were on the other side of the country, they would take like 5-6 days to get in.
