Thumbs up Best First Gen Colors

Hey guys,

My two 7's are both BROWN. Shined up they look OK, but I would like to improve the color. IMO the best colors I have seen for these cars are a light blue/teal and bronze. The light blue/teal car was Iotus, and it is IMO beautiful.

For some reason black and red don't look right on the first gens. Silver is OK. What is your opinion? How about some pics?

the best look I think is the V9 factory paint color....
Mine use to have it till the 1st owner decided to paint over it.............. v9 and red leather interior... that's probably the best combo

Black is the best color for a first gen IMO. I love the way the tailights look on a black RX7 especially.

Code H1-sparkling black is one of the coolest colors from the factory because it looks totally black from a distance, but looks custom up close because it's metallic with a green/brown sheen to it. It looks so cool the officer pulling me over for no front plate assumed I had just custom painted it that color and really liked it! He let me go w/a warning... This color is very hard to match to "spot paint" because of all the different colors that are really in it. I also like yellow, too bad there wasn't a factory yellow for the SE's...

My last 2 FB's have been Sparkling Black - and I agree with the post above... this is a great color for this car. It's a bitch to keep clean buy this black "Sparkles" - wouldn't go with any other color!
(It also matches up with almost any interior color and the side moulding don't stand out so much as they do on lighter cars - and before someone says "take them off", I prefer to keep the mouldings) - just another humble opinion

Doesn't anyone like BLUE??!!

I'm not sure what the color names are but I love dark, glossy blue on first gens. Montego blue?

Kind of like the stock, WRK blue color.

I like the red on mine, but I have to agree that the "charcoal" tornado silver is by far the best, dont know how it would look with a red interior though, I think a black, grey, or tan interior would look best.

rx7gslse: those are some sweet wheels you have there. What type are those?

I liked the red just because off the the interior lights were red already.. just completed the look with teh red interior and silver accent in the console.

Mine is Dover White. I like the 1st gen in white, and also the charcoal metallic gray. I would like to see one in british racing green though (or even the black that has british racing green highlights- some special custom paint I have seen on two Miatas- awesome!)

I'm a big fan of charcoal or graphite on the 1st gen, but for some odd reason bright yellow also looks sweet White looks godaweful on most 7's I've seen unfortunately, but thats about the only color i dont like.

I like the black metallic on my current SE better than the tornado silver (aka 'charcoal') that my '83 had, but the '83 was faded

I love the silver on FBs eventhough my current one is black.

My previous car was silver and I say it's the best color.

Misty Blue. I've had it for 20 years and I still like to look at it every day.
