Best Exhaust for 12a?

Its about that time for me to get an exhaust for my car.

Nothing is done to the motor as of now. I would like to get a header as well.

Eventually I want to swap to a 13b turbo from one of the local mazda sites in and redo my engine bay and all that.

So whats your opinion on an exhaust?

Mufflers, header, pipes, etc. Also, let me know your opinion on catalytic converters, whether or not you have them.

Thanks!
Chris

I'd go with an RB header, straight pipe, and a xr-1 borla at the end. Throw in a presilencer if you don't want to **** off the neighbors .

I hear good things about Borla. I'm running a full Racing Beat system with a presilencer and I like it a lot, plenty of power above stock and like twinkletoes said, the presilencer allows me to not **** off the neighbors. That being said, when you run it up, you still hear it.

Ditto, except even without the presilencer with the RB muffler, it's still quiet enough not to **** off the neighbors and sounds wonderful in the secondaries. A presilencer with a Borla at the end will still pissoff the neighbors with a header LOL. How long before you decide to do the 13B Turbo swap?

You'll have to redo the exhaust for the 13BT, so keep that in mind. I would try to keep it cheap(ish) in that case.

A friend of mine has a Racing Beat header and presilencer with a Borla muffler on his rotary 510, and it sounds very nice, though a tad loud.

Thanks for the input thus far!

I still need to look into swapping. I would love Fuel Injection and after driving my brothers turbo Daytona, I LOVE boost. Plus I want a little more power of course.

I need to see how much it will cost, what parts I will need, etc. I know there is one site that sells the 13b turbo, both 87-89 and 90-92 or whatever it is. I need to do a lot of research because the basics are still unknown. Like, t2 turbo for instance. haha.

The exhaust needs to get me by for the remaining time with the 12a. So at MOST a year and a half.

I have a leak near my cats, and its causing a terrible back fire. I had my brother make a temporary pipe to go from the cats to a cheap Advanced Auto Parts muffler. The thing made my car sound like a tin can and I am sometimes embarrassed to drive it with the way it sounds. The car looks nice, sounds awful.

What are opinions on pacesetter? I believe those are the other ones offered for us, correct?

I have the full RB exhaust (headers, presilencer and muffler). I Like it alot but it's still a little loud for my taste.
The quality of the product and ease of installation was a plus.

I've got the full RB streetport dual exhaust. Sounds great, quiet at idle and cruise but will scream when I open it up. Installation was a breeze. Two downsides are the cost, and the weight. It is very heavy, but you an still feel the bump in power. Add a Sterling 465CFM carb on top of that and you'll have a fun little ride.

Back when i was gonna do my project RX-7, i was gonna run a down pipe with open pipes all the way to the back, then put on a couple of apexi N1's on it. You can get a cheaper version of the N1 on ebay for less than $50 shipped.

If the full RB system is still too loud for you, you shouldn't be driving a sports car. The RB system is just as loud as a stock system at idle and cruise. When you open the secondaires it's louder than stock but it's not screaming like a straight pipe
