Best bodykit I've seen (and I hate kits) And drop top 7!

Hey guys,

Felt obliged to show you this gem. I hate bodykits on 1st gen 7's, I think they look best stock but this one really caught my eye.

Custom Veilside, 180sx front, lancer skits, x-racing mirage rear.

Aaaannnnd the fun doesn't stop there! apparently this 7 convertible is "2 of 6" ever made.

And the news is both are for sale!!!!!

Personally, I don't like the styling of either. Nothing against the owners, it just isn't my cup of tea...

That's cool, it's your opinion, I'm not too excited about the convertible but the silver kit IMO is pretty damn well done. It's probably one of the sleekest I've seen on a 1st gen 7...and as I said, I typically hate 1st gen kits.

I give high marks for the silver 1st gen.. At least the were thinking outside the box. Looks pretty decent.

The vert's never appealed to me.. Without a body kit it sorta looks like Mercury Tracer convertable.

Out Of Body Kits

I did that once to a RX-7 Rex and every time you would hit a large bump, the doors would fly open. Girls though it was neat, but cops, well you know. The first car in your posting has very good work done to it but still looks like a melted jelly bean. IMSA or stock. Only way to go.

The front or the silver one is okay, nice bodywork on the entire car but the front bumper just doesn't flow.

The blitz bumper would have been cleaner.side skirts are okay.

The back bumper is horrible.

My opinion only but the work was done well and I know that HAD to be expensive. Respect on that note!

Convertable is very nice. Just needs the 84-85 dash!

What does the blitz bumper look like?

84-85 dash? Isn't that what it is anyway on the vert?

One forum memeber has this blitz bumper, Same as the bumper from the green eclipse in the F&F movie.

The 84 dash is the redesign for the last 2 years of production.

An example of the 1984 dash is on my website

Well, that dash is what all the S2 & S3 have here in Oz. I got the same on my 85.

Wow, Interesting. It's weird how we have all the s1,s2,s3 thing going on and you guys got the SE, and all that...interesting little mod differences.

The only dash different on ours is the S1 (79-81). S2 and S3 are same dash.

all rhd (Japan, UK, ...) kept the S2 dash for the S3 makeover aswell. The LHD ones got the more square looking GSL-SE style dash (at least overhere)
There are quite a few verts in Europe (about 10 in the German club!), but I hardly ever see one. I guess most are kept in collections nowadays.
The European Verts were a lot stronger built then the USA ones. Apperently the US guys simply cut the roof and installed a sort of U-shaped brace front to rear. A friend drove one that made it's way to holland, and it's flexing as hell!
As for the "six build", hmm, wouldn't be very tempted to believe that.
But I must admit I still really like the Vert, even if a more modern approach could make it look better, esp. the hood looks a bit out of place.

I HATE the rear of that 1st one, the side and rear skirts are not bad tho. To me it just doesn't suit the lines of the car. It just looks too modern looking on an early 80's car that all. I'm sure alot of time and $$$ have been put into it thougt, so i respect the owners for that fact, Plus it's a 7 and whatever you do, you can't go wrong!

Is that honestly no. 2 of 6 convertible 1st gens, or is it no. 2 of 6 in that year, spec and colour............. Just seenms too rare to even bother making? I say this because i know this dunde who's brother has a convertible series 1 and just thought about it...........

It may have been 1 of 6 made by a particular shop.

There have been several convertibles made by a handful of companies. I would guess by the special badges that this was a full shop job, instead of just someone with a sawzall.

With the top up, the vert almost looks like a Miata....pretty neat anyway, though....the silver car is looking good from the back up until you hit the front bumper area...it's too high, so it kills the "slope" profile of the 1stgen. But, man, was it ever done right...some really nice bodywork to make it happen. What did it cost or was it a car you just drove up on one day?
