BBK from Re-Speed, Wheel Fitment ???

Hello,

I have a 1985 GS with GS front suspension and GSL-SE rear. I'm going to be moving to ReSpeed's big brake kit when I get back from Iraq. This, of course, requires new wheels. I was looking at 2nd gen Vert wheels but I'd rather go with Crown Vic mesh wheels. These are 16x7 with a 0 offset. From what I understand that leaves me with 4" of backspacing. How will this fit on the GS? Fender rolling required? Unfortunately I can't do any measuring since I'm overseas. Thank you to anyone who can help me out!

OK, digging around some more it appears they are the '99 and up Ford Crown Victoria wheels. They are made by BBS for Ford and they are cheap!!! Like less than $400 (- shipping & tires) on eBay Motors. They're 16x7 and I'm still trying to confirm the offset/backspacing although it looks like they are 0 offset/4" backspacing.

Here's some pics...

Can anybody take some measurements for fitment? I know there are some people here with TurboII brakes.

More digging...

'93-'96 have 16x7 with 6.4mm offset (about 4.25" backspacing?)

'99-'02 have 16x7 with unknown offset (from what I've seen they are 0 offset, about 4" backspacing?)

225/40/16 is the tire size I'm thinking about running all around.

I wish I had my car so I could figure all of this out.

Anybody awake yet?

15 minimum diameter with a max back space of 4.5"

This normally works well with up to a 8" wide wheel. Those Crown Vic wheels look promising.

Awesome, thanks a ton, bwaits. I can't wait to get back and be able to see these plans through.

What do you think about the tire size?

You can find Toyo Proxes in 225/40R16 at http://www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?ti...del=Proxes+T1R. They're listed at $159.99 per tire through that link.

When I get back and go through with the BBK I will buy the 5 lug Moser axles Re-Speed sells.

For anyone else looking at these as an option, I've also found them on '97-'02 Ford Windstars. Same size and everything.

I don't know why I didn't think to look here first... Now I feel dumb.

http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/u...061930&fpart=1

After looking at this does anyone see any reason why these wouldn't work with a 225/40R16 tire? Does anyone have any idea about how well they will fit? Rubbing?

It will be a tight fit, but should work if you roll your fenders well. I personally would probably go with a 205x45x16

Nice looking wheels man! would look great with just the face polished. Doesn't quite look like 0 offset from the pics, they might work

deffinately go for the 93-96 since theres a better chance of the 6.4 offset fitting than the 0. Zero is deffinately gonna stick out past the fenders

Do they make 195 tires for 16 inch wheels? IMO, with a 7in wide wheel, you will have a better chance of it fitting than a wider tire (because with this low offset your pushing it already). even 205's bubble out past the 7 in wheel on my 15 inch wheels with a 50 series tire. Anything bigger will bubble out past the wheel even more (coming closer to or past your fenders). Since your already cutting it close with regards to rubbing, you don't want the tire to protrude past the rim. Anything wider than 205's on a 7in wide wheel will look funny anyways imo. The gsl-se suspension will generally push the wheels our further than the non se suspension.

It will be VERY close to rubbing if it doesnt. Please post pics in this thread if you take the plunge since those that responded are now subscribed and have our popcorn by out sides. HID headlights below guys!

No, just that you find this style of wheel on a Ford Windstar. It looks like the best choice is the '93-'96 HPP wheel though.

I will definitely post pics when this is done. I have a brown car, what does everyone think of bronze centers with a polished lip?

Somewhat related, my protege has 15" wheels, 7 wide. Went from 195w tires to
205's. It did bubble out a bit, made it look more meaty.

If you are going Toyo proxie's, go for the proxie4's. Slightly more expensive but
much better tire. My sister had the standard proxies that ROARED... I had the 4's,
and were great in all weather with much more noticeable grip.
