Battery clamps...... removing?
Battery clamps...... removing?
Hey guys,
The fastners on the battery post clamps are stripped (by the previous owner).
Do you guys have any tips on removing the clamps without damaging the battery
or the clamps? Maybe i can cut the bolts?
I have an angle grinder but don't want to blow up the battery, or cut it open.
Am trying to keep the stock battery clamps.

Just grab the head of the bolt with vice grips and then use another pair of to turn the nut off.
Other wise jsut replace the batery cables with stock replacements.
That is prbably a good idea any way becaue the 20+ year old wiring can usually stand to be refreshed.

im having the same problem with my 85 -se(the bolt is actually broke on mine). i picked up some battery clamps at wal-mart that has a stud and wing nut on top(so you have to cut the wire and put on ring terminals) but they also sell complete cables that have a clamp similar to the factory style.
