intake manifold 82 vs 83-85

Is there any dif. and is either of them better than the other?

as well as anything else that may be better off of one engine as opposed to the other... ? what dif. are there other than the 83-85 supposedly has lighter rotors.

nothing diferent? anyone...?

just wondering, i'm figuring on using the 83-85 engine as long as the chrome isn't flaking on the rotor housings, otherwise i'll use the 82 housings with the rest of the 83 engine, and an oil pump off of a 85 13b and finally the 82 flywheel for the whole like 3lb diference b/c i'm too poor to buy a nice steel one.

dude,
what do you have? and what are you trying to do?

if i recall, there is no difference in 12A rotor weights between 1981 and 85. i can't remember for sure, but there is a chart at Mazdatrix's website that should tell you what the rotor weights are.

as for the engines ... as far as i recall, only the size of the flywheel changed in 1983. i can't speak on intake manifolds, but i think you'd want a pre-Rx-7 12A manifold if you wanted an appreciable difference anyway.

however, let us know what you want as a result and it'll be easier to help you get there.

now seriously, before you start telling me i don't know what i'm talking about why don't you look it up and save some trouble of proving your ignorance.

the flywheel is 23lbs instead of 26 i believe and the rotor is 10.1 or so compared to 9.6 so... if you'd like to discuss anything else be my guest, but please make sure you have a source to base it on.

as for the next question what am i trying to do... we'll i'm trying to build a decently quick street ported car on about 250$ and 2 long blocks

thanks for everyones time, i believe i've found everything i need.

the only difference in manifolds for the 12a is the 79 which has some kind of different runners, i really dont know what, but i heard they are better

Apex, chill dude!

You will have a hell of a time building it for that. Just the seals and gasket kit will cost more than that. And if you don't have the tools to port, or some kind of guidelines as far as how much to port, that will cost even more. You also have to consider the fuel requirements and the need for greater oil pressure (just upgrading the pump is not all you should do).... the list goes on.

Good luck, but you will never find everything that you need.
