Battery cable lenght

I did a search for "1st Gen battery cable" and could not find any thing useful...

I'm looking at replacing my battery cables (both pos & neg). Can anyone tell me the proper length I need to purchase for each cable?

Thanks in advance

Not sure how different the battery cables are between the 83s and the 84/85 but here is a writeup on replacements for 84/85s. I just replaced mine not too long ago but for the life of me cannot remember what length they were, I know the negative O'Riellys had one that was spot on but the positive was a tad longer than stock.

If you still have the stock battery cable measure the length then you can go to PepBoys, Autozone and buy a battery cable and make sure to get the ends that you need. I placed my battery in the trunk and thats what I did just custom make it. The cables is not hard to cut and ends are pretty easy to adapt.

Making your own from a nice gauge high strand copper will be the best way to go. If you pick up 5 ft. of positive/red and 6ft. of negative/black. You'll have enough to run your leads to starter and chassis ground.
