base model GSL-SE

im done intalling my crank windows/no wiper hatch. removing the a/c and the cruise control from my car.
its just the luxurys are so anoying when they arent necesary

its going to be a auto crossing car
and well iv decided that my se needs to be into some racing action so im sending it to my cousin a few miles away and for a grand im having everything removed that is not necesarry for the car to drive
a list includes
1:whole car lifted off frame, frame repainted/stiffened
2:full roll cage installed
3:everything rewired and repainted
4:anyhting not necesarry for it to drive on the street while still maintaining race capabilitys gone! like the bumper skin will be mounted on the roll cage, so will the fenders. my interior will consist of a fiberglass dashboard, one seat maybe two if im feelin lucky but only one five point harness, anything out of the engine bay not drivable removed, and so on and so forth
it will pretty much be stripped.
but just wanted anyone to know that i may be sellin quite a few rx-7 gsl-se parts in the near future
i might even change engines to a 4 port
or just carb this one

How is it posible to remove the body off the frame, when the car is a unibody. Meaing there is no frame. You are go all out with your mods, so you are going to Unlimited type class, where the big HP cars are going to play and you are going to have pay some big dollars to dial in a car design that has not won too many (if any at all) autocross titles the last 6-8 years.

Keep up posted on what you learn.

yeah i will. im gonna be in the streetable class. probably the doorslammer class. where i my door has to open and close, it has to have d.o.t aproved tires, and no engine swap/serious modification
from first glance it will look very stock,. and dont worry about the car being a uinibody old mister sawzawl will take care of that lol

Do NOT separate the 'body' from the C-channel reinforcements. This is NOT a body-on-frame car, it is a UNIBODY. This means it is a ONE PIECE BODY that acts as a frame.

When you try to reweld the C-channels onto the floor, both the pan and channels will warp. It will not be as strong as it was from the factory. The C-channels do not run the length of the vehicle like a body-on-frame car, so there is NO BENEFIT to be giained by temporarily separating the channels from the floorpan.

You say you want to repaint/stiffen the frame. Why would you then chop up a unibody to 'stiffen' a nonexistant frame?

To stiffen a unibody, just add a front strut tower brace and internal rollcage.

If you're really worried about chassis stiffness, strip the interior and seam weld everything. I know a guy in AutoX that seam welded a Starlet and it's stiff like nobodies business now. Pay attention to what Manntis and rhinor61. There is nothing to be gained by cutting the body of this car, and lots to lose.
