Bad Vibrations

no matter what rpm or speed im at, there is a fairly harsh vibration throughout the car. its felt more in the shifter, could this be from a broken tranny mount (or worn out) i hear they tend to break or weaken and cause sag, in return make vibration and shaking... any ideas, i saw mazdatrix had a good deal on replacment mounts, might try one of those

Yes, a bad trans mount can cause a vibration. I would start by checking the driveshaft. A bad u-joint can also cause this.

5 bucks says its a bad u-joint on your driveshaft! And if this is the case you will need a WHOLE new drive shaft. 79-82 had replaceable u-joints while 83-85 did NOT have replaceable u-joints. Start there first!

fixed it up added another bolt and vibrations were gone altho i still had bad engine and tranny mounts so there was a lil vibration at idel

thanks for the tip, i guess when i go to rebuild the motor ill go ahead and go solid engine mount, new tranny mount, anything wrong with going aluminum driveshaft? kinda want lighter, dont guess it would hurt any worse than a light flywheel, which im also getting at rebuild time along with new clutch and streetport, drive it like that until i can get enough saved up for the full 13b swap and build
