Bad coolant temp sensor connector???

So i was checking my ECU error codes by following the archived article by gsl-se addict and i got the bad coolant temp sensor warning. So i went out and got a new sensor. I check my ECU error codes again and it still says that my coolant temp sensor is bad. That means that either i have a short somewhere in the harness, my coolant temperature sensor is kaput or i have a bad multimeter. I am currently checking the multimeter.
Currently i am thinking that the connector is bad because it looks a little different when i compare it too a spare wiring harness coolant temperature sensor connector.

Does anyone know where i can pick up a new connector for the coolant temperature sensor? Does anyone have any other suggestions??? I'm about too spend the day unwrapping the wiring harness to look for a break but any extra input would be appreciated.

As i was unwrapping the wiring harness i found something odd. There are three green wires with red stripes all connected by a piece of metal and joined into one green and red wire.
Each wire goes to some different sensor, the air temp sensor, the coolant temp sensor and the throttle position sensor. Is this normal or did some previous owner tamper with the original wiring and do this??? What is the point of even doing this in the first place???

OH! i forgot to mention the car is a 85 GSL-SE.

Here are some pictures of the three wires going into one.

That type of connection is common. It's factory.
