Bad coolant seals?

My car overheated and i had lost alot of coolant. i thought it was the heater core cause my defogger wasnt working and the floor board was soaked. me and sorrow bypassed the heater core yesterday, but water is now coming from the middle of the exhaust.

you got coolant coming out the exhuast? Usually when a coolant seal breaks, you'll get coolant into the combustion area and it will burn off making white smoke. You must have a serious leak if coolant is coming out the exhaust. Take your radiator cap off and start the engine for a minute. If you can see bubbles in the coolant, then compression is getting past the water seal and into the coolant system.

I wonder if your intake manifold O-rings have bit the dust and now it's pouring out over your exhaust manifold. Is that what you mean?

Project84 is correct, check your overflow tank for bubbles. If you see them then you have some big issues to contend with.

Yep, the engine's most likely stuffed but it doesn't mean it's a "broken coolant seal".

The problem with overheating a rotary is the different expansion rates of the engine parts. The aluminium rotor housings try to expand quicker than the steel tension bolts and get crushed. When the engine cools down the housings shrink to their new size, bolt tension is lost and the engine starts to leak like a sieve. This would explain the monumental loss of water.

The easiest way to tell is to just pull the sparkplugs, maybe turn the engine over and see if there's any coolant coming out.

Did I say radiator cap? I ment over flow bottle cap. Any of the above advice will help because the worse case scenerio is having coolant in the combustion chamber.

This car is a big headache,
He paid waaaay to much for it,He thought he had a rebuilt engine,I was looking at the previuos owners reciets,Some one put a used engine in this car,and thats not half the headache.

Im 100% sure his heatercore busted then cause the engine to over heat then Im not sure about the coolant from the exhast,I just think its dripping from the floor board on the exhast.

Hes going to **** about what I saw on the way home,
rebuilt 12a with all RB goodies 600 double pumper etc etc..$2500. with mint paint job and mint grey inside on a 84/85 body.
