I use to be pretty easy on tires. 1 new set use to last all day, but know that i have higher speeds i use 3rd gear most the time. Being 200hp i have to leave it to the floor, like going up the hill i never lift of the gas. I burned my first set of brand new tires in 5 runs. oops. I went a little easrier on my 2nd set of new and got 8 runs out of them. Then picked the best of what i had left and got another couple runs. So my day was cut short. Really sucks.. cus i had to do the same thing last weekend in tenn. I really need 3-4 sets per event, thats the min. if i want to drive as hard as i can. But i will go broke even more so then I am.

My car is so basic its not even funny. I converted over to se front suspension, se brakes, se rear axles in gsl housing. I have a Kaaz 1.5 diff, w/ 4.44 gears. G.C coilovers, G.C camber plates. 5way tokicos. I have spent many hours playing w/ my front alignment. A few more tweaks and it will be really close to being done up front.

It was pretty cool yesterday in atlanta probably 50-60 out. So i was running pretty cool only hitting 210 after each run. But in the summer i take the hood off to keep it under 210. I really need a nice rad setup, maybe a v-mount, and a reverse cowl hood would be nice.

Im no pro yet, but i hope by the end of 06' i will have my car dailed in to be more consistant. 1 out 10 runs i ussually make a mistake, not a spin out but just not the same exact line as before. It has taken me a while just to figure out tire psi to run. You would be surprised how big a difference 2lbs makes to the line you take while drifting. At this point money seems to be the most limiting factor. to bad i have no idea how to market myself.

Everyone on here thats into drift, i wanna see you guys/girls out there tearing it up in your seven. The sport is blowing up, its one of the most fun things you can do in your car. To those nay sayers you need to see it person to really get a feel for it. Videos do it no justice compared to the real thing.

What is your camber/toe set at and who supplied the plates? I'm really interested in how your setup is. From the looks of it you're one of the first of the first gen guys to really get into it. You should document all of your settings and publish them as a newbies guide to drifting the first gen.

I buy new tires, so it allows me to have a consistant tire. I prefer the Falken rt-615 all the way around. But because i cant afford them on the rear i use the 512's in the back. For a new drifter i suggest any low grip tire u can get your hands on. 250whp would be a killer amount of power. Plenty to blaze some big drifts. but be safe, dont drift on the open roads, big parking lots that are not being used are great, events even better.

Well I have spent so many hours on the alignmnet machine, that it feels like cheating if i tell you everything. But here are some things, caster is a must the more the better. Camber should be between 2-4 neg. this depends on your style, and tires. Toe start at 0 and play with it in 1/16 incremeants till you get your turn-in how you like it. This can change depending on fast drifting or slower stuff. Your sway bars play a big part too. I prefer the stock bars all the way around w/ poly bushings and endlinks. My rear bar has 1 thread showing past the nut, the front has 4 threads. I finnally have access to a set of scales, so those settings may change. Just have fun with it, everyones car setup is going to be different. Allways check tire psi. This a major factor in how well you will drift.

Unfortunately, the only real oportune time I've had to do any kind of drifting was on public streets (pushing my car past its limits), but I linger from that just because you never know who'd be around that corner and make a mess.

When it comes times for new tires, I'll probably find a large parking lot around here and have at it with my old ones before I get the new ones installed. I just need to get my brakes fixed first.

How often do you do the events and how did you learn by? And, how well are you in shifting your car's weight effectively?

Wicked video, by the way. Making me jealous everytime you pop one of those things on.

Well all i can say is i was going through about 3-4 sets of used tires a week for the first yr. Then it tapered down to few sets a month. And know i manly hit every event i can make it to. I also concentrated on doing figure 8's in parking lots, then big 2nd gear donuts.
Drifting pretty much is a balancing act of your weight, among timing your steering wheel speed, and throttle inputs.

Trust me, I know quite a bit of drifting and what goes into it. Altho steering wheel speed is a new one to me. To me, it's always been effective weight shifting, throttle manipulation, and just the right amount of steering and counter steering. I just can't find the right time nor place to do it. My rear tires are already pretty low (and it'll cost me $360 to do all four new ones), if I do any crazy drifting, I might wear them down to the cords. Also, my second gear synchros are messed up and I grind everytime I go into 2nd, so I guess that nulls out low-mid speed slides and drifts.

When will your next event be?
