Back into the game......the Rx7 game that is. Long time member getting back in touch.
Hello world, Or the club or community. This is Dylan a long term Rx7 fan and a member of this club for over a decade long. Actually I don’t want to think about that right now. The future is soon and I’m back In the Rx7 world once again. I can’t seem to stay away it’s a part of who I am. The car is an extension of ones personality. So I would like to invite anyone to welcome me home to the club and I’m excited to finally do some contributions to the forum and community that makes up this club. I have some a project that I will introduce sometime soon. (I picked up a 85 SE and I’m giving some love. Excited to post and update on the family addition. Hope everyone is healthy and staying safe! Much love talk soon.
Glad to hear it! I've been lurking on here myself lately and was wondering how many old members are left.
Trying to get myself psyched up to work on my SA again.
Welcome back. I've had my FB the whole time but just started getting back on here also. Mainly to do research as I prepare to complete my collection with an FD but I've been peeking around in this section also. Some days I really miss the '84 -SE I had for awhile. I hope yours treats you well.
So this is a trend huh? 😂👋
Welcome back! I too have been gone for probably 8 years and just started lurking again. My 83 GS has been in storage for the last few, after I de-modded it when moving to California and then had emissions issues anyway. I'm back in Minnesota and anxious to get it out and fix it up. My biggest question is: where DOES one get parts these days? Performance or just OEM. I noticed Re-Speed is out of the game, I'm not sure if I want to hear that story or not... I see MazdaTrix and Racing Beat are still selling a lot of the same stuff.
I just came back as well after a ten year hiatus. Restoring an '83 GS and finding that parts availability is not what it used to be.
I agree it has been a sobering experience trying to find good parts. Makes sense though one day our 1st gens will cost big money for a good car. Seen it with mustang and 914 time makes them rare and therefore collectible.

yea it’s going to get worse unfortunately. But I think silver lining is our cars keep going up in value.

15 years ago I had that same car. Silver 85 SE w/ burgundy leather. I Should have never sold it!
Great color combo and even better pricing! Are you in CA or WA?
The car looks clean too.

I’m in Oregon I got the car in Washington. Car is actually really clean. Price honestly was probably about right. It was missing the oil cooler and they said everything was complete. Didn’t notice until I took it for a test drive and it popped there Home Depot fitting bypass hose off and dumped all my oil on the road. Pulled over right away but know idea the exact damage yet. Had I search for a cooler found one online and it was not a se cooler. Guy insisted that it was a se had to provide pictures to prove. Then there was a lot
of rust in the tank to the point the fuel sending unit arm was almost rusted into two. Fuel system all had to be rebuilt. Next thing is the cooling system seems questionable I think it might have a bad housing seal but I haven’t had a chance to test it. So all in all it sat exposed to the elements in Washington for some time and it definitely needs a lot of work rebuilding everything to be reliable again.
I used some pool acid an about 8 hours and it’s a million times better but I wish I had the money to just buy a oem new tank before it’s also discontinued. But I’m not rich yet so I’ll just make due with what I got. Before treatment. After 2nd treatment. Trust me it’s hard to get the top treated and I don’t recommend it. Buy a kit that comes with a coating. I regret not just coating after treatments tank will tend to flash rust so you have to coat the tank fast with thin oil or diesel fuel. Or paint if you got a tank restoration kit.
