is this the correct oil filter part number?

The one on my 7 right now is just about twice as tall as the new one I have ready to put on, whats with the size difference?

I dont know it by the part number but some of the old school rotory used the larger oil filters. but the shorter one will be just fine. As long as its not a Fram filter

The correct part number is PL14459

Because the only oil filters I use are the Purolator PureONE oil filters

They should be short. The tall ones are for the older rotaries, the smaller ones are the ones that our cars are listed for, and they're shared also with the miatas and some other mazdas.

The dealer filters are horrendously too small for my tastes. And in the 'states I hear that FRAM has the contract to make 'em, so I wouldn't trust 'em.
