is this the correct oil filter part number?
The one on my 7 right now is just about twice as tall as the new one I have ready to put on, whats with the size difference?

both the large and smaller one are mazda from the dealer but I bought the smaller one a whjile a go before I knew the one I had on there was taller then the replacement.
this is okay to use? changing oil in the next week so I want to make sure I'm in the clear. thanks

The correct part number is PL14459
Because the only oil filters I use are the Purolator PureONE oil filters
They should be short. The tall ones are for the older rotaries, the smaller ones are the ones that our cars are listed for, and they're shared also with the miatas and some other mazdas.
The dealer filters are horrendously too small for my tastes. And in the 'states I hear that FRAM has the contract to make 'em, so I wouldn't trust 'em.
