Axle Questions

I searched but I didn't find exactly what I was looking for. Is it possible to use the GSL pumpkin in my GS housing with my GS axles and brakes too, as long as I stay year specific. This is going in a 84 GS, But I only wanna swap the pumpkin to a GSL.

I think the pumpkin also has to be an 84 as the axles got bigger in that year.

But what I need to know is are the axle splines the same on the GS and the GSL. I know it has to be year specific, as the 84 did come with bigger axles.

oh ok.
I don't know if this helps you, but according to a parts catalog I downloaded, the whole axles are the same for S, GS & GSL. GSL-SE has a different part number.

I don't know a lot about the rear end as I've just posted a question.
