does anyone know how to remove/replace the side mirrors? I have an '82 that needs passenger side mirror replaced and it's been a living hell to get at with inside door panel removed!

They are removed from the outside. Look under the mirror body, you will find 2 screws, once those are off, there are 2 screws that hold the stalk to the door. This works for the power mirrors. If you have manual ones, I'm not sure if they are the same.

The 1st 2 screws will want to strip, so be careful and use P B Blaster.

 

I can't believe I didn't even look there I completely assumed they came off from the inside!
