awakening a beast.....

im going to go pick up my 80 with a 70's 13b in it this weekend, i want to know how i should go about starting it up. the engine only has about 2000 miles on it. it has been parked for about 2 years with ATF in it the whole lot time and being tunred over by hand every so often. what i figured would be to drain all the gas out, change plugs, change oil and filter, and clean out all i could of the ATF. this this is a diamond waiting to be shaped and i dont want to screw it all up by messing up the engine when i try to start it. im not in any kind of a hurry so time isnt an issue, cash is though, im very low on that. just someone tell me exactly how i should go about handleing this. thanks.

you pretty much got the idea except, you wont be able to get all of the ATF out. You can remove the spark plugs, disconnect the fuel pump and ignition, then crank the engine. some of the ATF will come out thru the spark plug holes but the rest has to burn out which is good for killing roaches and rats out of a garage. Instant terminator

yeah, i know. i did an ATF treatment to my previous rx7 and it smoked for a while whenever itd backfire smoke would POUR out. kind of funny, especially once when cops were trying to chase my friend who was in front of me and it did it and so the cop slowed downa nd he got away. haha thanks for the help.

Go to a cheap self serve wrecking yard and get a set of plugs (unless you have a spare set) and use them to start it and burn off the atf then put in your good ones afterward.
