Question Rear hatch release override

There's a car at a yard that I want to get the hatch open, but of course it has no power. Is there a way to get the latch to release manually?

The electric switch operates a lever on the passenger side of the latch assembly, which is under that little trim and carpet piece that covers the latch area. Pull on the lever.

It might, but if you're me, and have a key matched to the vin it won't work on any part of the car. Yet the title matches the car numbers.
