Autocross video
Here is a link to a video shot by Alienrx7 at the event last weekend. My codriver had the headlights down, and I drove with them up. I ended up beating out both of the other first gens there, plus a turbo 240Z (nice car!). Thanks to Alienrx7 for taking the time to put this up. Let me know what you guys think... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtYdBE1r4XU

I'll be out of town for the rest of this weekend racing Solo I in Oscoda Michigan, so it may be a while until I can check back with you guys. Wish me luck!

Thanks man. We were hitting the redline buzzer in 2nd gear for about 4 seconds before the end of the straightest section. Still in the process of dialing in the new suspension setup, but overall she's screaming along nicely.

Great job bro! Nothince like hearing a nice FB screaming. I never been to autocrossing before and hope that one day I can do a begining level with my stock car. Learn the basics and move on from there.

The main event was on Sunday, and they really gave me a good spanking that day. But on Friday they had the high speed time trials and the course really suited my car. I managed to sneak away with a 1st place in CSP class, and that was on street tires.
I'm finally starting to understand how to dial in my suspension, and I learned a lot about tire pressures too this past weekend. But one thing I know for sure is that I really need to get some racing rubber to be competitive in this class. That and some bigger sway bars too. But even as is, I'm having a blast!
Don't wait for anything to get started in this. I waited twenty years and now I'm kicking myself every day for that lost time. Just make sure that your car will pass inspection (battery secure, no leaks, etc.) and show up. Cost is like 20 bucks and they should have loaner helmets available. JUST DO IT!!

I agree with Kentetsu, don't wait to try. Find out when they are having one in your area, and show up. Even if your car isn't quite up to par, show up at an event to watch. I can garrentee that you WILL do whatever is needed, to have your car ready for the next one.
In fact, most times you can actually ask the tech inspector to give your car a look, even if you aren't running it at that event. They can point out anything you need to correct before running an event. This is a good way to prevent the disappointment of going, and wanting to run, but passing the tech. The real trick here, is to ask them to look at it after they have checked the cars that are running that day. Almost every tech inspector I have ever encountered has been more than willing to help a newbie by showing them what needs to be done, so the car will pass, and the new driver can actually join the fun as planned.
