the sucker rides like a fat lady at a salad bar..comfortable and content, but showing some restraint for the terrain. or like a cadillac, whichever you prefer, lol. probably the smoothest riding 7 that i've ever owned. the car is super nice to drive. the auto box isnt bad but it really takes the sport out of the car if you ask me. it seems like its really trying hard to find the right gear and shifting is delayed. its butter smooth but just not for me.

some real progress has been made. before the swap, i decided that i wanted to make the car user friendly and replace a bunch of worn parts or awful looking parts. just make the car plesent to be in.
thus far i have replaced the old silver moonroof with an oem smoked plexi one i had. its a really nice addition to the car. i replaced the stereo that was worn with another nice ETR i had. really makes a difference. i threw a set of 4" infinity speakers in the front. i had them laying around and figured that i might as well use them. i replaced the rear carpet with a section i had laying around. the old rear carpet was well...real house carpet..blue to boot. i added some stock looking exhaust tips to the muffler. old ones had rotted off. look nice i think. i'll replace the muffler soon though. i swapped out the tires on the car. you guys saw the old 185/80/13's on there. everyone noted that they were too big (which i was living with but could no longer stand). i had a new set of tires on some crummy looking (clearcoat is all but bubbled and gone) X pattern wheels so i just threw those on until i get the time to take the big tires off the nice wheels and swap the nice tires on the nice wheels.
i replaced the rear carpet strip by the cargo light. old one was rotten and crumbling. i swapped out the gauge faces on all of the gauges. the florida sun had baked the black paint and it had crumbled off, leaving the gauges a nasty orange with black specs..eew. so, thats taken care of. i also replaced the antenna. the old one was an el cheapo aftermarket rubber job. tacky as hell. i swaped out the wiper blades and the air cleaner housing with a new air cleaner. today will be the fuel flter, rear wiper blade, painting the wiper arms, a bath and vacuum, and whatever else i find to do. i am going to post pics of my progress today. next weekend is the time frame i'm setting to do the swap.

the one in the weeds had long rusted into the ground for 9 years before i picked it up. th e parts from that car live on, extending as far as arizona to repair a car that was wrecked. it was new purchased by the person i sold the parts to. i sold her the complete right rear quarter panel. her car lives on and is beautiful. i'll see if i can dig up a before and after pic...

an exerpt from her email months ago: "Hi Dave!--
Finally I got my RX-7 repaired, (using the piece you sent me), and had the wheels I bought from you put on! Here are a couple of pictures. I'm really pleased with how it came out--and I thank you once again for your help! I love the wheels and I think the body shop did a good job on the repair....you can't even tell it had a big hole in the side!"
