Apex Seal Spring Installation question
Ok so I'm working on my first engine rebuild. I've got my FSM (Factory Service Manual) in hand. I've got all my seals in my rotor up to the Apex seal. I got the corner seals in and the rubber inserts. Now here's my issue.
1. At what point do I put the Apex seal spring in? FSM says to leave it and the corner triangle out but never says when to put it in.
2. This is silly but once again the FSM doesn't say... how should I orrient the Aoex Seal Spring, curve towards the rotor or curve towards the Apex seal?
3. How/when do I get the Corner Triangles in?
Any help/advice from those who've undertaken this before would be most appreciated!

Superglue the corner piece to the apex seal, then put the spring under the apex and slide it in as a unit.
Put the curve towards the rotor, you want the ends of the spring on the apex seal.
After all that is put in, then put your corner springs and corner seals in.
EDIT: Running 3rd gen corner springs?

Jeesus has it down. When you glue the corner pieces on, I like to lay them on a piece of glass so the glue doesn't stick. Corners must be lined up near perfectly and any excess glue trimmed off with a razor blade. Clean the seals with brake cleaner and blow dry before gluing. I've also found that the thicker superglue work better.

Well I'm going back to the way it was. to be honest I'm not sure if the ports are stock. The previous owner did a bunch of work on the engine... If it's ported it's only a small street port.
Plus my carb isn't big enough to run a bigger port I think
it's only a 550 cfm... I think it'd need to be at least 600 cfm for a port job right?

Hmmm I might have to take a small street port into consideration.
Well I'm getting all my parts ready to go back together... is there a better weight of oil for the intial break in than another? I was planning on just straight dino oil 10W-30...
Anything I should keep in mind during my break in period?

I've found the FSM method of installing the apex seal springs the best.
First fit all the oil control seals and springs. Then install the apex seals without the springs and the side and corner seals/springs ONLY on the front side of the rotor. You can then lay the half assembled rotor down on the plate. After the rotor housing goes on you slide the apex seal spring in behind the seal. Then it's just a matter of fitting the rest of the side and corner seals/springs on the rear side of the rotor.

i have only rebuilt a 12as with two piece... but i put everything, less apex seals and springs on the rotors... petroleum jelly to help hold in the side and corner seals/springs.. set rotor into plate... slide in large apex seal halfway then add apex seal spring.. insert the rest of the way and then stick in the small piece...

install the long apex seals into the rotor with the flat end facing the front of the engine. while assembling the engine slide the spring under the long apex seals, install the short boot, spring, corner seal and plug(if applicable). install the center iron, rinse and repeat.
