i believe the 4port has 3mm seals, and the 6port has 2mm seals. but of course the 6port ones can be milled out to fit 3mm seals.

-correct me if im wrong.

Basically everything from 74 to 85 is 3mm seals, everything afterwards is 2mm.

Stuff older than 74 is 6mm!

and the advantage to a 2mm seal as opposed to a 3mm is that the thinner seal isn't as prone to chatter, correct?

Thnner seal=less friction on the housing and therefore less wear on the housing. So goes the Mazda line anyways. The community is fairly splilt over which is better, but many people get the bigger seals when they rebuilt their motors because the common belief is that they withstand pings better than the 2mm seals.

Personally, after listening to both sides of the debate, I figure that with a rebuilt, the added wear of 3mm seals will not really make a huge impact on engine longevity. Ans if you have a turbo and lean out, the seals may just save your motor. If you do a search, you will find far more learned people than I talk about seals and their benefits/disadvantages.
