They truly SUCK!!! I Had them on the tail lights in my truck, and they WILL turn pink. they get hot, dry out, melt to the bulb, crack, and make a mess when trying to replace bulbs.

Just start looking at places that sell automotive specialty parts, you're bound to find something.

I concidered the same mod for my widebody, chose to go with the Niteshade paint instead, the car is black.

I think Aerospeed carries the red bulbs. You will probably have to order the through your local parts store, buy spares while you are at it.

Unless you want pink bulbs, you NEED to use LED replacement bulbs. They sell them at Autozone. They are the 1157 size.

Don't mean to knock you guys who have put the hard work into this mod...

But, am I the only one who thinks this mod looks hideous?

It might look good if something other than overhead light fixture plastic was used, but it so obvious to tell what its from, and it just doesn't look right. They're for ceiling lights, not tail lights!

still want some feedback as to ditch the red lense in the middle and replace it with a bike reflector

use LED APC bulbes. they work great and fit the only problem is that they're so low voltage that everytime you hit the breakes the light will go on. But that is your best option! Someone mentioned before that you can wire in a diode of some sorts that would cure the problem. I just don't know which one to get, but it's a radio shack bulb. Try searching the answer is out there it has been posted a few times...

I think the mod 'as is' looks bad.

I think it looks BEST with the middle lense thing completely removed, no replacement at ALL. Put LEDs in and you're set.
