anyone here with 16" wheels??

Im trying to find out if I can get 16 by 8 wheels on the rear and 16 by 7's up front

I'd like to try and get 255/50/16 drag radials on the back

I really want the look this car has but I will atleast need drag radials to try and get it to go strait but will have hoosier quick time pro's on 15" wheels for track visits and/or street duties but trying to figure something out for cruizing wheels/tires

I'm runing 16x7 on all 4 corners of mine.. You shouldn't have any real issue with the 8" in the rear, but 225/50-16 is going to be a really tall tire for the car, but you probably knew that...

That black car almost looks like 17's...

yea that pisses me off too..LOL happens alot on this board.

rx7gslse is that your car?

I have 3 pics of it on my computer I snatched from somewhere...

looking thru all the pics I have now I want to do the air dam and spoiler setup like on the black car but paint it close to the color of the one you posted.

If thats your car do you have any more pics of it?

Is that charchoal grey?

255/50 drag radials are 26.1 inch tall

they say 10.3 buldge on 8" rim
might have to hang out just sligtly huh?

what size and brand tire is yours and how much room you have on inside and outside?

I may just push the 1/4's out just a lil to get more room but not interested in widebody..i'd ladder bar it and mini tub it first but trying to stuff it much as possible for now

I'm looking to try and get 26/11.50/15 hoosier quick time pro's on it for track/street duties which are 26.4 tall and 10" tread with 10.8 bulge.

any way possible to get a 27" tire on it but say 9" tread??

needs to be tubbed by trying not to atleast for now.
thanks....RED

I have some like the fb does, but my lips are not as fat. I got em from a friend who brought them back from japan. I need to get wheel spacers first for them to fit on my 79.

yup, check my website; www.digitex.net/ecarter

Nope, Tornado Silver I think.. Code K8

I'm running 205/45-16 Yoko AVS ES100's on all 4 corners for simplicity. Ther fronts are *very* tight in next to the spring perch on the coilovers, the rears have plenty of space.. IF you go to my website, you see how an 8" rim w/ 4" backspacing will fit on teh rear. Sticks out a bit, but works... I'm looking at getting some 15x9 w/ probably 3.5" backspacing to run drag on. Should fit, but I'm waiting for a buddy to see how his seup works 1st (15x12!!!!)

dunno... start shopping to see if anyone makes one. Also, geta Jegs catalog.. they have a whoel section for drag racing wheels/tires in the back. Usueful stuff, & free.

dear gawd... How big are those?!?

To answer the how much space in the rear question? I think between a half to 1 inch between the tire & the lower link in the rear....

Is that what you were asking? Behidn teh rear tire to the wheel well? I don't get it?

those are a little too big for me.. i think the biggest on a first gen would have to be a 16" rim, nothing more.. but thats my opinion

yea
basically how much room does the tire have to go in before it hits anything

1/2" to 1" is big difference when comes to stuffing a wheel well..

to get a 255/50/16 under the back I wil have some tight clearence but thats ok

I can look up how wide your tire is and compare it to the ones I want and if I know how much room you had to move in then I can figure out if they will stick out if I get a rim to sit them in real tight on the inside

Sirex - Looks like you're all ready to go mud boggin' ... perhaps try lowering the car a bit to reduce the fender gap, then the wheels won't look so big...

honestly the 17's werent my choice, they came with the car. if i had money i'd considered lowering or downgrading to smaller wheels.
