Anyone have any experience with the Koni strut inserts for the SA?
I bought a pair for my 80 and am planning on installing them tomorrow. They are adjustable, but only when they are outside of the strut housing. Anybody have any recommendations on how to set them. I basically want them as firm as they go as I will be autocrossing the car this season. Unfortunately, I am having trouble understanding for sure which way is more firm and which is less. It seems to me that they may be firmer when the shaft is rotated all the way clockwise when depressed into the cartridge. They definitely don't rebound as much when all the way clockwise. Help!!
The struts and springs that are currently on the car are the ones it came across the pond with in 1979. I can't wait to have the front done. The Koni's and Eibach springs were installed on the rear Sunday and it feels so much better. I just need to figure out how to set the darned things for the front.
Thanks,
James

I also have Konis...all the way down and clock wise is stiff, but for autocrossing, I can't say how stiff they should be. I know from my own questions that if whoever tells you how to set them does'nt ask about your springs, take what they say with a grain of salt. Matching the shocks to the springs is very important.
The guys that did madaz07s may even have had a cross refrencing book, I dunno.

I didn't get to put them on last night. I failed to get the proper tools rented in time. Looks like it may be Sunday. I am running the Eibach Pro Springs. I probably should have went ahead and upgraded the front suspension to the 81-85 setup, but chose to stay with the stock strut housings. My friends with Koni struts are able to adjust theirs at the top tip of the strut. Unfortunately, mine requires them to be set before installing them in the housing. If they are not set right, then they have to come all the way back out again to be adjusted. Not exactly what I had in mind for adjustable, but at least I will have Koni's. I am tempted with leaving them all the way clockwise (firmest setting I guess). I set the rears to their firmest setting and am pleased with the way they are performing. Thanks for the advice, and anymore is still appreciated.
