Anyone ever seen or know where to get this urethane float for the weber IDA carb????
I'm in the process of working on my weber IDA downdraft 12a turbo set up. So far I have seen two brass floats sink to the bottom of my carb. Robert has been very helpfull in the fabrication of these and with the testing, I have done his next one should right on and ready for boost.
I was really upset on the last float. It sank I took it out and shook it, you could hear the gas swishing around on the inside. Robert did a beautiful job of making this one and I could see there was a little weak spot in the welding job but it looked solid so I went for it. Worked great the first day by the third is was game over. I'm absolutely positive that with the first two being prototypes the next one Robert makes will be fullproof.
The day that my float sank, I called Robert he was more than happy to help me, but I must admit this float deal was kinda pissing me off too.
After talking to Robert I searched a link that was saved in my favorites. The link was an auction that had ended for the float and the jets/emulsion tubes I had found on yahoo auctions japan. Well, the same day the float sank just happen to be the same day that the auction was relist. Fate or luck, I dont know it just happened to be my day. I kept it a little hush hush cause I didn't want to loose the auction to anyone. Called my japanese friend and he hit the buy it now button for me while I was on the phone with him. Hopefully in the next three weeks the float and the other items I got will be in my car.
The urethane float for the IDA does exist it's just that nobody knows where to find them or who makes them. I have called Knight Sports in japan and they could only get me the brass ones and couldnt find info on the urethane one. Has anyone else seen these or know who might make one??? Please dont ask me if I will sell it. As far as I can tell its a one of a kind at this moment and time. It will have a nice home in my 12a turbo project.
