anyone ever polish thier doorhanles

if nobody has ever notice i thought id throw this out there... cause ive personally never seen it done..

mazda did a nice thing and made our door handles out of cast aluminum... ive been doing allot of aluminum polishing lately.. so i thought why not sand these down and give them a quick polish

unless thats just too bling?
i think it might look cool.. anyways.. im out...

Paul

I saw a pic I think on ebay a while ago that had chrome door handles and also some chrome fender lips. It looked good I thought.

if that's going to be the only chrome on there, no. If ther will be atleast a few more accents, it certainly has potential

I think it would fingerprint too easily. That would bug me, personally. Could look nice though, depends on the colour of the car.

On mine (Sunbeam Silver), I don't think it'd work.... but maybe with a few more accents on a black car....

Don't bother polishing them, get them chromed. On the right colour it looks excellent.

If you use driving gloves you won't have a problem

Also i would think it would look good chromed if your car is a dark color, but i would also chrome all the window outside assembly as well to go along with it

I don't think chrome handles would look good on the car. It'd stand out too much and adding/making more shiny trim to the rest of the door assembly would make it stand out too much and make it look cheap. That's my opinion, anyways, I've seen enough of that crap down here. I'd say keep them the way they are, just buff them up and make that black shinier. I think it blends in better.

dude thier is like 50,000 diffrent types of alummininnimunnuimim and from my welding experiance on the door handle it is not the normal kind that you can polish to make all shiny, but that would be pretty bling. but i welded on myne and man are they a pain in the *** plus some to weld ack i swear iwas going to tear the thing a new one!!!!

The 1st gen door handles are pot metal, basically zinc. Anyone who does not recognize immediately that this is not aluminum should not be welding anything.

If you want to add some chrome to the look of the car, find some door
handles from a 1978-1980 GLC. They are identical and they are chrome.
You can also remove the windshield and top trim, which is stainless
steel. Strip off the paint and polish it. /doesn't take much, it is already pretty smooth and shiny. ( I did not use the top trim on mine because I eliminated the top.) I did find some chrome windshield wipers that fit, to complete the look.

Of course, I also used chrome bumpers from an RX-2, but you won't want
to go to that much trouble unless you are building a serious custom job.
