Anyone else running 17" rims...?

So far a quick spin around the block and nothing has rubbed. Full turns and nothing has rubbed. Going over a intersection at 20 and nothing has rubbed.

I have Tokico Blues all around, Racing Beat springs in the rear and Re-speed adjustables up front.

The car is getting the body done over right now and I'd really hate to have a major mishap from a large bump or something of the sort, especially after a fresh paint job. So I wanted to know if anyone else has gotten away w/17's and if you have a pic.

Thanks.

17 inch wheel doesn't really say much. What's the wheel width, offset, and tire size?

8" width rim, 205/40/R17 tire, +2.75" offset.
I think I'll be fine, tire height is only 23".
I'm hoping to hear someone else got away with 17's no problem.
I could always take it easy and find out for myself if no one chimes in.

On my GSL-SE - I have run 17x7:
+38 offset in front w/ 215/40/17
+42 offset in rear w/ 245/45/17

Crappy kyb shocks and racingbeat springs worked fine with just rolled fenders in the back..

Now the car is slammed on coilovers and the 245s rub slightly.
Front has tons of fender clearance with a bit of camber!

No offense, but from the pics it looks like yours might rub over big bumps or during hard braking.

Edit:
Not the greatest pic, but here they are showing loads of clearance before I dumped the car and added camber in front:

Thanks.

Does it look like the tire sticks out too far to get away w tucking them using something like caster plates...?

The offset is all messed up here bc originally they weren't for a rx7. I don't think the +2.75 I originally posted Is the right # on the offset. The rims are actually +36mm = 1.50" and the wheel adapters are 1.25" so I added the two.

I don't like the rims enough to widen the fender lip although if I had a beater I'd sure give it a shot.

If the wheels had a +36 and then you added a 1.25" spacer, your new offset it ~ +6 ( you subtract the spacer from the offset) which is part of why it sticks out so much.

You need camber plates to get that to reasonably have a chance of tucking under the fender, and even then would probably need to roll the fender fairly aggressively.

I figured that after posting being the spacer would be as adding more rim back towards the center.

The fender is already rolled as much as possible from my last set of wheels, so that's already done.

I only had a chance to search quickly & read somewhere about turning the stock strut or something like that...?? Or would these be what I'm looking for..?? http://mrcmfg.com/catalog/product_in...products_id=38

Some extreme camber in the front would take care of that!
If thats what you're after, the respeed plates would do the trick.

However, how is the rear? Maybe time to look for skinnier adapters?

What would extreme camber do to effect drivability pro's and con's...? I guess I should do some searching.

I was hoping the Re-speed adjustable springs up front would help me out from hitting the fender. The spring is pretty stiff (250's) and there's always room for another twist or two to raise it, althouigh it'll prob look silly. The backs seem ok. I'd like to try a pair of Nitto's I have (which are little wider & taller) to see if they'll fit.

I was thinking that too... popping off a wheel to take a close look and see how much of the adapter can be machined off safely.

I'm just looking to cruise w/these on a sunday morning and jump on it for a quick burst here and there. Nothing crazy, no autocrossing, etc... Thing is I kinda like the stance w/the wheel sticking out just a tad. I should take it out for a real cruise before I paint.
