Mine had one when one of the link arms broke.

If you want your car to look broken too, then go for it.

I don't really understand the mentality of making your **** look ruined. My roommate wants to put angled spacers behind his wheels so that they wobble horrendously, just so people see it and think "WTF, that car's all messed up." He'd probably like a sleepy eye look too.

Like he cares. Most of his tires have cords showing through anyway.

the sleepy eyse where people just leave the stock light bulbs in and just pull the fuss when its half way up look bad ill admitt that but when some one does a full light conversion like that one guys blue 7 on the other page. actually looks quit nice and not broken IMO

My two cents worth:

The flush look on a first gen is NOT a good look. I have not seen one yet that does look nice.

The sleepy eye would be awesome, IF it had a custom surround arround the headlight hardware. There is a write up somewhere on how to put the Miata sleepy eye kit into a first gen but even that doesn't have a surround. And please don't say just put the stock surround back on. That would look even more ghetto. Anyone who is good at fiberglassing could make a few bucks building these plastic surrounds and selling them with a couple bulbs as a kit.

Hmm,back from the dead. But since its relevant,Ill post my homemade headlights.Mid Tenn Miata kit, recut the covers and fitted some LEGAL, Hella 90MM projector low beams.
Yes,its bright,...yes, its light (lbs),....no, its not weather-proof(but its easy to open up and clean inside)
I can say,it looks very good on my car and Ive got nothing but compliments, even at SevenStock.I can see some scenarios where it might not look right, like on an otherwise stock vehicle or possibly on a light colored car(match painting the buckets would probably help in that situation)

For anyone who cares:
I have a design, and plans to produce a sleepy-eye kit with a plastic surround for the lights.

It's planned as my next project after the plexi moonroof get going (3 weeks or so)...
It will be designed for use with these:

http://www.hella.com/produktion/Hell...dules_90mm.jsp

But they won't be cheap...
With the lights, you're looking at about $350-400 for a kit with Halogen H9 bulbs...

BTW, if you think that's too much, keep in mind that's about $240 for JUST the lights. Then there's the sleepy-eye kit, the wiring, and the plastic surround...

If there's enough interest I'll probably try setting up a group buy to lower costs...

... But that's still at LEAST 3 months off... I can't really say too much more on these until I get past prototyping... but feel free to ask questions...

I've said it before:
steve84GS TII, even tho your car isn't to my taste, it looks damn sexy, and you've done a HELLA good job on it!

How do you like the modules? I'm loving them in my testing...
'Cept I have the e-code version, 'cause they're legal in Canada...

As for the whole "CP thing"...

Personally, the sleek lights are not to my taste... But they are VERY well made and do look good. I just feel an RX-7 should have pop-ups of some sort...

Also, they may be expensive, but they cost more to produce than most of you probably realize.

BTW, they are VERY bright and cast a good visible beam patern.

As for the customer service, I can't really speak to that, other than to say the shop has been VERY busy since the move to thier new location.

The Hellas have been very good so far.Havent had any lighting issues since I got them. They come with OSRAM bulbs which are some of the best in the world. Its bright, focused and the cutoff is very precise.I do have to clean the covers or it'll get a bit fuzzy, but thats only in the winter months. The only downside is that they are quite large and deep.I couldnt mount them on the outer edge where I wanted because they were just too tall. They BARELY fit in the inner position and 90% of the light makes it over the wall, out the lenses....

I'm quite good at fiber glassing and working with polyurethane foam, can you keep me intouch with your sleepy eye kit.

I really like the carbon fiber JDM lights that are put in the 3rd gen's, thats the sort of thing im trying to reproduce for my 1st gen.
