Talking Anybody got a set of window louvers for sale?

Looking for aluminum. I was trying to get a set locally, but the owner wants me to pay $113 dollars shipping for 50 miles(100 miles round trip if I pick them up, at 16mpg). Mainly they're whining that they don't want to pack it themselves. Maybe they've never done that before, who knows?? They want to use UPS's overpriced box, packing svc, and as of late, grossly overinflated shipping. I begged them for a FEDEX quote, and here comes the whining again. Saying they hauled them around for two days, etc etc. Fedex is about the only reasonable shipping available right now, from my personal experience. So, to make a long story short, I would like to find a set of these, and skip the whiner, lol. Anybody got a set of these they want to get rid of. Preferably one that allows for a rear wiper. Thanks!

PM me with a price you are willing to pay for a freshly painted set. I may have a line on one if they haven't crushed the body yet. Don't be cheap.

Don't be cheap? Give me an idea of cheap and we can work from there. lol. After looking in the for sale section, they seem to be running $25-$45 even repainted? I imagine this is too cheap, correct?

Wow...seems like 100 miles round trip is not that bad...just go get them. Let's see...100 miles @ 16mpg...a little over 6 gallons of gas...gas is $2.10 here right now...that's less than $13!! Just go get them.

The stupid idiot gave them to a scrap metal guy. Guess I will start checking ebay, cause he probably has more brains than she did, lol.

Yeah, that's way too cheap. I would need to go to the wreckers, buy the louvers, sand and prep for paint, paint, build a package strong enough to ship them safely and pay for shipping.

I don't use rattle can paint either. It would be painted with the same matte black single stage urethane paint I used on the widebody. That paint is so tough, it's nearly impossible to sand, it's closer to an epoxy than it is to a base/clear automotive paint. You don't even need to wax this paint.

For me to mess with it, you're looking at more like 200 shipped. Even at that price, it's hardly worth messing for me due to the amount of time involved for the above stated reasons. Just going out, buying, packaging and shipping it will cost me around 100 bucks.

I have a set here in the garage and had it sold a couple of months ago for 250 painted and shipped, but I'll be damned if I can find the mounting hardware for it. I put the hardware away somewhere so I could find it later, you know how that goes. lol

Talking

She had lost the mounting hardware too, so don't feel bad. I was going to have to make it from scratch. I spoke to someone at Astra/Hammond(Now Willpak industries), and believe it or not they still make them. They didn't give me any distributor names in the email, so maybe I will get a list on Monday. If they can be ordered through my work(Carquest), I can get them at a little over cost, which would rock. I hope they're available through the company store.

Well, that's all cool, but don't count on getting them for $25 - $45 !! If you want good stuff, you have to be willing to pay for it...that's just the way the world works. By the way, I love my louvers:

No, I wasn't panning to get new ones for that price. But if I can order them for a bit over cost, that would be good enough for me. They would be new, what more could I want, really? Your car is in amazing shape btw!! When I had my first job, my boss had a 79 he had bought new a few years before. You guessed it, same color.

You got family or friends from LA? If you do, let me know and they can pick up the rear louvers along with rear glass.

Yeah so far that's the only distributor I have found. There has to be more, and hopefully one I can order through my job. If I can't get a discount on them, I may as well overpay for them at Black Dragon.

Nope, unfortunately no friends in LA LA land. Unless you meant Louisiana? In either case, no.
