anybody ever have an exhaust pipe made from midas?
hey everybody - long story short - I don't have a cat converter, tried to pass emissions today by using the ole dry gas trick, almost worked, but almost is only good in horseshoes and hand grenades. That being said, I do HAVE a cat converter, and the air pump is still there and everything. But, I have a custom header on the car, and i do not have the original manifold. So what i am wondering is, have any of you ever gone to midas to have them make a pipe for you to, like to connect the cat to the muffler? I am just trying to figure out how much approximately that would cost me. Also, I do not want it to just be welded on because I would like to remove the cat and the pipe they make afterwards and put my straight pipe back on. If anybody has any approximate prices i'd appreciate it a lot! Thanks!

Connect the cat on, if your'e able, and drive to the nearest shop. Be sure to let up on the pedal if you see a police car at any distance.
I drove with just the exhaust manifold to 3 or 4 places, one of them was half the price of the others,$40 from the exhaust manifold to the RB muffler. I supplied the flanges though, cut from the cats.
I can't imagine it being more than that for that short a pipe.

yeah, getting the flanges will be a bit of a problem for me, since I don't have any "extra" flanges anywhere... maybe if I cut them off of the y pipe from my 87...
any body else have any ideas/approximations?

RB has the flanges by themselves and the thicker tubing. The standard tubing in exhaust shops will last 6 months tops. If this is just for a "test pipe" to hook the cat up for its once a year emission test, then midas is no problem except that some shops are strict about the no tamper rule. I've had better results with independent shops paid in cash

ok people, who thinks I should just bite the bullet, and go for a RB header, Bonez high flow cat, RB flange/piping to my RB PP muffler? I also figure with the high flow cat i could un-wire my 5th and 6th ports (gsl-se) and put my actuators back in...
my dad fronted me next years allowance, and this would take away a huge chunk of it. But I would replace my "custom header and straight pipe" which I'm not sure of the quality... (previous owner got it them both a few years ago...)
anybody else have the RB header to bonez high-flow cat to straigt pipe to RB muffler setup?

i tried to take my car to midas for the same thing except i had bought a flowmaster universal cat to bolt on to my RB header...they wouldnt work on it unless i bought an entire cat unit from them...i found a place to put it on (they supplied the flanges) and it ended up costing me around $300 for everything (including the price of the cat)...the cat was extremely restrictive and i think it is not even functional anymore (the car revs just as free as it did when i had a test pipe) ... i still failed emissions ... so i had to get my sticker the "ghetto" way... in total, the cost i spent for my sticker would have been enough to buy me a brand new bonez cat unit that i could have bolted on myself and probably would have been functional

Yeah, shutup kid.
I had midas make me an over axel pipe for a new muffler. It didn't flow the best, but it lasted for over a year and still looked fine when I took it and made my turbo exhaust.
