I never knew the all-aluminum rotary engine was heavy!!! I lifted 5 12a tranny's from one side of the shop to the other and it didnt seam that heavy. When two guys from my shop lifted a fully assembled 13b, it was hard, but it was done...

So, anyone wanna carry a 302? Or a cast-iron turboford's 4? I didnt think so. I'm not trying to start anything, but i'm just saying:

1.A four cylinder is lighter than an 8 cylinder engine...Who would have thought!!!! (sarcasum)

2.A rotary is lighter than a 4!!!!! Or else mazda wouldnt have even bothered.

3.A piston engine should not go in something that's called a "Rotary Experiment - 7" hmmm, i wonder why.

4. A rotary engine can go into ANY piston engine car because it is so much cooler. I'm thinking of doing the old F-body 13bt transfer myself, you know, cause they can handle so good and have extreme lightweight.

Take it from someone that has been there, a turbo swap and a stand alone ecu is EXPENSIVE, AND its a freaking hassle, to find someone to tune a motor that is only 5% of the population of cars...And to get someone to tune a Cosmo, single turbo, and a stand alone ECU is maybe 1/2 a percent of the cars in the world, Next time I around Ill do a V8, then I have people that can help me...Then I can drive 5 miles and have it tuned, not F&^KING a 1000 miles one way.

I did it

SOrry, But I did it, I have 5 7's that I have kept rotary and 1 that I did not.

http://groups.msn.com/MyRX7sandStuff...market=en-us.I am considering autocrossing it next year after I put in front coil overs. IT already has the RB complete suspension. I would need to get another set of wheels (7.5 in wide) and some stickies to go on them, but the car does not handle too bad. weighing everything that came out of the bay compared to everything that went in ( on my loading dock dig. scale) the V8 is only 51 pounds heavier. And that was with the AC setup which I have removed since. Now when I move the battery to the rear I should be pretty close to where I started and the coilovers will control the difference.

I don't usually agree with the concept but the torque is crazy and in complete stock exterior it is a pretty sneaky car( minus the slightly shaky side mirrors) I still enjoy the smoothness af my other rotaries and love driving my modded FD. but this car has it's moments...

Putting the extra wieght of a boinger in the front of an Rx-7 totally blows the handeling.

Think about that for a second. It is, without a doubt, THE biggest arguement against "boinging" a rex that I've ever seen.
But, I'm hard pressed to dig up very many of the Know-So-Wells that have said it that have ever even SEEN, let alone driven, a piston converted rx-7.

There ought to be a sign at the doorway of each of these STUPID flame-threads about boinger engined-rexs that reads, "You must be this tall, and have at least rebuilt one rotary engine to board this ride."

I'm gonna give my opinion- specifically because I'm sure that noone really wants to read it!~
...And that opinion is, if you don't know what the **** you're talking about, then don't talk!

If it was not for the adventurous, often brave, true auto enthusiasts who are willing to embark on a long, dark journey with unforseen problems around every bend, to squeeze an engine that clearly was not made for an Rx-7 into that lil' car, then we would have one HELL of a boring forum here!
What does it say for us so-self-friggin-rightious "Wankle-homogenous" Rx-7 freakin fanatics when we can't even appreciate the hard efforts of someone that enjoys a slightly different flavor of the same soup?
And, BTW, I don't care if that's Boinger soup, or Honda soup they're eatin', niether!

You guys start attacking boinger converters, and you might as well throw Rod Millen in the stoning pit along with them. A pioneer who put 4WD in a first to ralley it. Waht an ******* he must be, right?

And one more thing - Corrections can be made for almost ANY problem. Even handeling characteristics.

mar3, you sure can get one going, you Carter lovin...

Ditto above post

I have rebuilt a rotary, am so and so tall, and still like rotary engines, turbo, ic's, etc, etc, etc. I can't afford a 3 rotor or super serious 13B and don't really want one. I have done the research. I dare you to challenge me.

BUT I put a 5.0 in my gsl-se. because I want 500ft lbs of tq reliably without a maze of turbo piping, standalone ecu, and me being the only one that can fix it.

Cost isn't an issue now since I have about 5 grand in it, and thousands of hours personally. It isn't easy and I highly suggest no one ever do it .
RUN WHAT YOU BRUNG, HOPE YOU BRUNG ENOUGH

eventually next year it will get mariah race wide body, and 315's out back.

It will start this week or next finally, and be passing smog and running ac when I get to it next year.
Here's a pic just to **** some of you **** youths out there. Can't you ppl just have love for all awesome cars/trucks out there. Kinda reminds me of some ricer mentality
