Any Tips on how to get strut mount nut off!

Whats the best way to get the 21mm nut off without removing the whole assy? I want to put my coil overs on but I'm lazy. I tried and the darn thing just keep on spinning.

Thanks, Ed

Do you mean the bolt that holds the shock to that upper mount? The best way, is a powerful air gun....If not, you'll have to clamp the shock in some way and try your best to hold it while you loosen the top bolt

Yep! Thats the one. I guess theres no special socket for that 21mm nut? I tried to clamp it down with vise grips while I turned the nut on top but still no luck.

Thanks, Ed

its easier to loosen it while its in the car. the tension keeps the strut from turning. if you really dont care about the strut, a vice grip comes in handy.

i did that once. the best way is to use an impact with the 21 mm socket. use some penitrating oil and let it sit for a while before trying to take it off. i know that made it easier for me.

I think Im going to wait until my cars back on the road(waiting for a new pump) and drive to my buddies shop to have him zap it with an impact gun to loosen and drive it home for the swap(about 5 min. away). I just wanted to do as much as I could while the car was down.

Thanks, Ed
I'm HOPING the new pump will cure my high rpm miss/stumble.
