Any suggestions for treating my fuel tank to stop further rusting?

I have my tank out of the car to fix a small hole in the bottom. I'm going to fiberglass over all the little pinholes I find as I scrape away the sealer. Afterwards, I was thinking about putting some of this de-ruster chemical called 'the right stuff' in the tank and leaving it overnight and then draining out. I'm wondering if any residue from that stuff will possibly do harm to my fuel system. I'm not sure what the main chemical is in that product and it doesn't list it in the bottle. Any ideas or other methods of stopping any future rusting

What year and model? Might be best just to replace the tank. Might be able to find a good one at salvage.

I used jb weld when i had my first 7 with a tank leak, worked excellent for the pinhole section just put a nice thick layer well around the section, for the actuall hole i found some mesh(like from an old srceen door), and built up the jb weld on top of that to cover the whole area, took several applications but no more leaks.

I've done several tanks with the POR-15 treatment mentioned above. Seals holes and stops rusting. Fair amount of work, but well worth it IMHO.

The 'Right Stuff' or a similar method of coating inside your tank was reviewed in a Mag here in UK and it said it was a OK process but time consuming. You have to take the tank off and swill it about?
It also said fit a new tank to your car (whatever car you have if you can get one for your car).
Maxda original tanks are still available. I got one from my dealers last autumn (fall to you guys) and it's on my garage shelf to fit this summer.

POR also have a fuel tank repair for this purpose then do a full treatment and paint on the outside, remember POR doesn't like sunlight so use a topcoat to finish it.

I did mine two years ago, so far its been perfect

sealed gas tank of repu using the POR stuff. it's still holding up but the problem was the STOCK sealant was flaking off and plugging the fuel filter right after tank.

you have to drop the tank, clean it with that marine clean and anything else you can get in there to clean. rinse thoroughly. dry. I stuck a hair dryer in there for an hour. then swill the goo around in there several times.

JB Weld is not gasoline resistant and will dissolve slowly. DEVCON sells some stuff that is like the aluminum putty.
