any side motor mounts? (FC style)

i saw a thread awhile ago of a dude who but a 13bt in his FB and used the stock (for FC's) side mounts and i think (don't quote me on this) had a piece of metal running from those side mounts to the spots on the frame where the 12a front mounts go.

does anyone remember this thread or have any info on making the side mounts work?

There are tons of threads on this. Take a look in the FAQ's. There is a thread called chronicles of a tII swap. It will give you a little better understanding.

As far as your question I do not know why he would do that. IMO it is much easier to swap a gsl-se front cover and call it a day. Read the thread there is enough information in there to keep you busy for days...

Good luck
Z

how does my understanding falter?
se's and 12a's use front mounts, fc's use intermediate plate mounts.
i have searched, and i know how to do a 13bt swap.
which is precisely why i asked about sides mounts in a front mount car.
there are tons of threads on 13b swaps but non retain the side mounts.
as far advantages...
not cracking the front plate?
maybe a long shot but i figure while i got her stripped i might as well go all out.

If you really want to use the center mounts there is a thread on nopistons.com that talks about custom mounts in order to utilize the fb fronts and the fc centers.

Not cracking the front plate...lol how much horsepower do you want? There a few people that are over the 400 mark with the front mounts...

There is even one with close to 500hp with the stock mounts.

well yeah, i understand that much, but it's kind of like forged cranks in street v8's, you don't need em, but it's nice to know.

also, i could keep my 13bt front cover and oil pan.

just exploring my options, i like the road less traveled, just trying to see if there was a reason this one is as such.

Tasty D,

have you considered the front crossmember swap that Abeomid did? it swaps out the recirculating ball assy for the FC rack and pinion, as well as lower arms, struts, crossmember, and Motor mounts.

might be fun though.

Actually, here in Norway, Simtechracing is pushing close to 600 Bhp with frount mounts on a 12A. Its in a RX2 though, not that it should matter!
